Ok all-been almost 4 weeks since i put a deposit on the legacy and still no car. As i said before-the speed sensor is playin up-its been replaced but the fault is still there. Its in a main dealers but to be fair theyre only getting to work on it in bits and pieces cos of workload. Ive researched this and it seems the loom on the sensor is a common fault.Ihave a mechanic whose a bit of a whizz with wiring and ecus so thinking of offering a reduced price for the car and just taking it away-the dealer is well sick of it now anyway. im 99% confident my own man can sort this in a couple of days so long as the ecu isnt the problem-but ive described the symptoms on here and on scoobynet and it never seems to be anything other than a broken wire or faulty speed sensor-what you all think-walk away, wait for problem to be fixed or buy and fix myself-car is mint and mechanically excellent.

4 weeks is a long time to wait on a car. I would have though that any salesperson would be mad to shift their stock regardless of the workshops workload

Ask your friend for a worst case senario quote for fixing the car, then double it , and offer the garage the asking price less the doubled repair bill!
And don'y let them tell you you can't have your deposit back! they haven't delivered your car after 4 weeks and that totally unaccpectable!
They sould priortise you, the paying customer

My impreza was like that when I first got it. Jumpy at low revs?

It was just my driving style that needed to be adjusted for me, doesn't do it anymore :D

This is definitely a misfire-changed the plugs yesterday-no difference. Thing is when it gets up above 4000rpm it takes off with no misfire-its only low down but its definitely there-anyone seen this before?

my b4 does this also but only untill it gets up to temp. i drive it without using any boost untill the temp nedle gets to a certain point then it drives like a dream. also found that ive had to change my driving style completely. my throttle pedel is so sensative it makes it hard to drive at low revs like when yer crawling along in traffic. can this be adjusted??
ps...whats a maf sensor and where is it on the engine thanks

MAF is a sensor that gauges the amount of air flowing though the intake pipe after the air filter so as the ecu can adjust everything else (ie. fuel) to suit!
It sould be imediately after the airbox and it has a wire that plugs into it,
As far as I know they are about €470

Whatever has to be spent has to be spent-we're all fooling ourselves if we think these cars can be run on a shoestring! Anyone in the clare/galway/limerick area that i could swop maf sensor with to see if its definitely the prob?

I dont think the MAF in the B4 is that expensive, dont know exactly but i thought it was around the 150ish mark, ring your subaru dealer tomorrow and find out
