Need help with rocker gasket

Did you do the work yourself. :dontknow:

There are two types of gaskets with just a slight extra piece between the two.

Got the wrong ones before so I cut it of mine the first time to make it fit but leaked after a while so just got the proper ones.

Also they recommend to replace the rubber rings on the bolts holding the casing on.

Plus was there gasket sealant used to hold gaskets in and did they slip out of position when putting back on casing.

Few things there to check. :thumbsup:
 
Got my mechanic to do it and he said he thinks they were not the right ones :dontknow:

He did not use gasket sealant so this could be the prob

were could i get a new gasket and how much for just the driver side?
 
I got mine from finnegans in ballymahon, the complete kit for 41 euro last summer postage included.
There is a differene on both sides and i used a small bit of gasket sealer and was ok :thumbsup:
 
Try the gasket sealer on them and dont start ur car for 24 hours so it can dry, thats what i was told and done and worked out fine :thumbsup:
 
Ok rockers are sorted but he is saying there is oil around the timing belt cover.

Anyone know how much for a new timing belt and seals?
 
Could it be cam seals that are leaking? anyway your probably looking at 190 quid for crank seal in oil pump, and 5 euro per cam seal
 
He is opening the cover in the next 2 weeks to have a look and thinks while its opened i should bang in a new belt as what ever seals are gone.

What if the belt has oil all over can't be good,don't want it to go bang love the car to much :subaru:
 
if the leak is down low and at the front of the engine it is more then likely the crankshaft seal. mine is leaking a bit ever since i got the car over two years ago and has not caused any bother. if the car is not due a belt for along time i would not change it. when the belt is to be changed do all and only do once and get your moneys worth from your mechanic. highly recommend genuine parts for the engine motor factor parts never work on a subaru from my own experience.
