Never gets up to temp

Hi folks,

Some context and a question for ye.

The car usually sits bang on in the middle between the thick bold line at the bottom and the next line on the temp gauge.

Recently however, the temperature has been sitting steady on the bottom line, and tends to flutter on acceleration.

I was thinking a failing thermostat and/or a coolant flush, but ye know what I'm like.

Does anyone know what might be the cause?

Temp sensor might be failing get it plugged in to read the Ecu coolant temperature and a temperature gun on the pipes

As above, but also, I had a similar problem in my B4, but it was up at H the whole time.
The gauge was wrong like. It was shorted out at the back.
It would read normal, and then could immediately go to H, not a steady climb like. Shoot up and stay there. It could drop down to normal again then, just as fast as it went to H.
I dono is it a common thing with them, read numerous threads at the time.

Most likely the sensor or what happened to mine was a worn cable to the sensor and was fluttering as you described
