New car options, what would you buy?

Hey guys,

So the wife has taken over the driving of the daily family car, which me leaves me to buy something nice as a second car. I have 8 grand to spend max. Now what im after is something a bit sporty, no more than 2.0ltr engine and ok fuel economy too. Now when I say ok, 30mpg is fine, not sure if im willing to go Subaru territory as my daily driver, like 22-25 mpg..... Also looking for around 200BHP.... give or take....

Iv been looking at a few bits, Like a 2005 - 2006 Celica T Sport (front runner at the min)

Integra - http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/honda-integra-type-r-dc5/6211955

Or a 2004 Audi TT 1.8ltr, the 225BHP version. (think they look old)

or a 2005-2006 GTi Golf..... something like these, Im really open to anything....

Any ideas would be great lads. And again if anyone knows of reasons not to buy any of these then shout.....!

Links to ones for sale would be great too...

Cheers!

Ya... I like them... Im thinking though, im 35, a civic??? I want something a bit conservative.... The integra would be as far as I would push it. I think.... :)

Renault megane r26, 225 bhp, cup chassis, leather recaro seats with all the bells and whistles, sat nav, bluetooth etc, 6 k for 2007 one, theres a black one on donedeal atm, had the pleasure of driving one once and serious car to go and handle and much more of a daily driver than scooby, only problem is it is two door, enjoy d shopping,

I average 30mpg in my UK WRX. I wouldn't rule one out as an option. Bloody reliable too... 155k miles and counting.

Had a T-sport Celica for 4 years and found it a great car. Couldn't fault it at all. Put up big mileage on it and the girl I sold it to 4 years ago is still driving it in Sligo. It was a 01. Lovely for everyday driving and when you put the boot down it could fairly shift. Now for coolness alone I would vote for the S2000.

Lads I had a Jap s2000 here before and I have to say it was very over rated. And very small and tight... Now certain things I like to slip into that are small and tight but not a car:)

How about an S15 or Chaser... Rwd and would probably do the 30mpg if cruising along... Most cars will but
None of these cars will do 30mpg when driven on, not even an sir civic.

Mate has one off these going for 9 :049:

My wife had a tt 225 for a year or so, was a fun car to drive, handle not too bad, and a bit of poke too. At the same time i had a uk spec civic ep3 type r and preferred it by a mile to the tt. I loved that k20 engine. Completely standard they are subtle enough, good poke, realiable. I had mine 3 years, 30,000 miles(69,000 when i bought it), and a couple of track days thrown in, and all it needed was brake pads, tyres and services. Passed the three ncts i put it through first time without needing anything.
Edit* and with the price of them, you could probly buy a litre bike for sundays too!

Iv just been looking at the mpg's of some of these cars and comparing it to the various spec Imprezas.... The Celica is still my front runner because I had ruled out an Impreza due to daily running costs. Then Jamie mentioned his UK WRX and I have to say looking at the figures I'm sooooo close to going for a 2004 - 2005 blob eye UK or Irish WRX. These are the figures,

UK Spec WRX - Urban - 22.2 mpg, Extra Urban - 39.8 mpg, Average - 30.7 mpg.

Celica T Sport - Urban - 24.6 mpg, Extra Urban - 42.8 mpg, Average - 33.6 mpg.

Can anyone on here give a true figure of mpg on a 2005 blob eye WRX? I do a 60km a day round trip to work, 6 days a week, a few kms through the city and about 10km on motorway, the rest include a village and normal national roads.

As some of you know I had a B4 and used it daily for a few months, even driving easy it was shocking on mpgs. Down near 22mpg so forgive my nervousness, cos I aint going back down that road!

Cheers!
