hi all i've got myself a 99 impreza sti jap import in white and loving having one again, i just want to no is there any thing i shud keep a eye on now i have her, like fuel? was told she was mapped but don't no how to find out? just thought i'd ask here as you guys as bein the best for getting help from, i no this has most prob been asked loads so really sorry if it has.
 
Try to find out what kind of fuel it was mapped for and use only Maxol E5 for ever(up to 99 octane instead of ordinary stuff at 95 octane). :subaru:
 
if it has a boost gauge or even get a lend of one the boost pressure will tell you if it is mapped or not. standard boost would be about 1-1.1 mapped boost is around 1.4-1.5.
i would stick up pics to see if anyone recognises it man and best of luck with the new car :thumbsup:

chris some guys just map for fuel and dont up the boost or change any mods so a boost guage wont tell if its mapped, the car could have a boost controller and run different boost but still doesnt mean its mapped either.

also if its a standard car it should never be mapped for over 1.3 bar of boost as it will blow the arse out of a standard cosmetic head gasket.

have you any controllers on the dash of the car, if so what are they??apexi avcr??

if you take up the carpet in the passenger footwell and have a look at the ecu and get a name on it? might tell or help you.

Hi John,

Dont know if that is entirely accurate, although maybe Im just a lucky fecker!. My type-r is mapped at 1.5+bar boost since that time I met you over 18 months ago and its running fine and is my daily driver! But I think it is probably at the limit.

Just a bit of useless info for ya. :thumbsup:

trying to get pics up to show my new motor but can't seem to, will have a look under the carpet did't no that and will see whats on it,
