Is the Exedy Stage 1 Organic 230mm clutch the way to go?
Does it come with the uprated pressure plate?
Is it ok to just skim the original flywheel?

And finally, what should you expect to pay for the clutch kit and labour?

Cheers!

Hey Sti TypeR

Yes Exeddy are a good clutch , much better than the standard Subaru one
but remember it wont last as long !!

Cost aprox €600 , cost for fitting of clutch not too sure :dontknow:

Yes you could skim the original flywheel !!!!..................but for best results buy an Exeddy
lightened fly-wheel , I suppose it all comes down to ??????'s , either way you will notice a good difference.

Niall.

You can get the exedy as a kit, with uprated pressure plate, if you havnt got over 320bhp an sti clutch would do same job, they around 500 euro and the exedy as niall was saying comes in around 600 i think. could be cheaper cant remember... make sure and get new release bearing aswell. With regards of fitting, last clutch i fitted i charged €300.

I not sure about the link that scoobymaniac put up, but be very carefull with ebay, ive been told about companys selling exedy clutches as stage one. but exedy also do oe replacements like a motor factors and thats what there selling instead, think there something about a blue box and a pink box, one is uprated, other isnt

I've used this crowd before, they do stage1 and stage 2 cluthes, all are genuine. They are an actual company in england with an company address, vat no and phone number.

They give full exedy warranty too!

Try them: mail order number +44 1253 720104

www.flat4online.co.uk does them. I know some of the lads on here were not happy with delivery service but I bought a good bit of stuff from him and was happy with everthing, parts and service. Mind you, I didn't buy a clutch from him so can't comment on the one he supplies. Only thing is ya pay through paypal so you're covered for items not being as described... I think he'll do a deal if ya buy a few things from him. Postage is "free" or included with all items so I used to ask him to combine it and he'd give me a discount, especially since he charges the same delivery world wide. Sorry "free" delivery world wide...

I not too sure about the whole ebay thing, i got stung about 2 months ago with a part for a honda, company with address and vat number etc etc sent the part, it was wrong model they sent for, nearly immpossible to get reply and when i did they werent having any of replacing it, only 80 euro, but a lesson learnt, same goes for uk companys, they may take it back if something wrong, but hassel and cost of returning is pain in ass. if it no more than 100 euro more from a trader here i would rather get it off them, i think street performance had a few kits in stock and were cheap as they had bought in bulk. Thats where i got my last 2 exedy kits anyway

Sorry to hear that man, that really sucks! Personally i've never had any serious problems on ebay but i know of people its happened to alright.

Your right though, It can be a lot of hassle if they send the wrong part or forget something or whatever. If your going to get one here then just do your homework and shop around! you'll find a big difference between different shops, some might do ya a good deal on buying and fitting.

Best of luck with it

Sorry to hear that! I totally agree it is risky ordering from someone ya dont know or haven't delt before - doesn't actually matter if it's an ebay company or not. :dontknow: sometimes worth taking though IMO

If ya looking for cheaper stuff cause ya bit strapped for money I think it's well worth it havin a look online. I'm never really flush and I check all available sources before i decide where to buy.

if i need something right away and have the money I rather get it somewhere local though. Just all depends on the situation.

I even order austrian chocolate online for god's sake

yes flywheel ok to skim and for correct job would advise. If roasted and too many heatspots then may not be possible. New flywheel spiggot bearing and rear crank seal also.

Do a proper job first time, everytime... :subaru:
