Well lads and lasses....
The names Keith and I've just bought me brothers Scooby.

She's a 96 STI Wagon, preety standard, bar a nice nocking coming from the engine :(

Was hoping I could get some help with this noise??

And here's the nocking noise....

How much would I be looking at for one of those?? Or would dropping anoter STI engine into her be cheaper??

I reckon neils right big end by the sounds of it man. Welcome to the club to, ring some of the traders on here and you will get the best advice.

ello mopedman

rebuild would be best option if funds allow, prices vary depending on what you want from it give some of the traders a ring and have a chat

Welcome Keith... sorry to hear of troubles with car. As above sounds like big end.

Rebuild is a better option... as you can never be sure of the engine you've fitted... could be another lemon!

You will be looking at a minimum of 2K for a mild knock rebuild and by the sounds of it yours is bad so it has probably done quite a bit of damage to the engine.
Stay away from second hand engines - you dont know its history
Go to a well known subaru engine builder as they will properly clean the block/parts, fit new oil pump/crank,piston etc. and advice of any other parts needed.

Welcome to the club and hopefully you get the car on the road soon
