New guy from Missouri, USA, not so new to Subaru

Legacy RallyGuy

Sunday Drivers
My name is Ken, I've been addicted to cars before I knew what a gas pedal was! This looks like a great forum to be part of, we had a serious lack of localness happening in northern Missouri.

I've lived in California, Arizona, Missouri, USA... Yokohama, Japan...

Yes, I do speak some Japanese... But I don't say yo all the time yo... J/K

Oh and yes... cars...

I currently own, listed by year:

1976 Subaru Leone Coupe - AWD upgrade
1998 Subaru Forester S

Cars I've had:

1981 Chevette *Jumped and sank in a mud-pit, then someone ran it over with their truck.*
1981 Plymouth Horizon *engine died and headgasket was worth more than cars blue book value, so I retired it*
1991 Dodge Omni *Stuck it under a semi-trailer... I wanted to see if they really do fit... They dont...*
1985 Celica GTS *Traded for XR4Ti*
1988 XR4Ti *Traded for gas money*
1889 Subaru L *Died from turbo-oil leak, blowing the engine resulting in turbo fire*
1990 Subaru Legacy L (gray) *Bought without title, parted and scrapped sadly*
1991 Subaru Legacy L (blue) *Some kids stole it, jumped it, Cops found it and I sold for gas money*
1991 Subaru Legacy SS (Gray) *Built, but sold to pay for STi*
1993 Daytona *$40 car, died after a month, sold for scrap and got $50*
1993 Chevy S10 *My only fault accident, stuffed it into a Dodge 3500 at 20mph six days after repaint*
1997 Dodge Ram Sport *Hood opened up at 70mph, traded it for the eclipse*
2000 Eclipse GT *Jumped and rebuilt/Traded for 02 Chevy S10*
2002 Chevy S10 *died from electrical fire*
2003 Lancer OZ *Sleepy driver smashed me into a guard rail when car hit 225 actual miles*
2004 WRX STi *438HP, sold prior to moving to Ireland*

Anyway, just being silly posting some of the vehicles I've owned... I'm not quite ready to, but after my Forester sells, I'd like to pick up a decent Subaru again. I'm thinking a few ideas...

Something classic - Old Subarus =1970s, 1991 Sport Sedan,

Something mildly "classic" like a late 90s or early 00's WRX.

More, just for fun!

Buddy's Bugeye Wagon, with some decent upgrades:

My old 04' WRX STi, again a scooby with LOTS up upgrades, bringing HP ratings to 430HP.

My 1977 Ford Courier...

My Subaru Leone, prior to being tidied.

Removal of the roof skin, the pillars are repaired and rustproofed.

I would love to do this paint scheme: But change the red for the original yellow.

Anywho, I love cars and have worked on restoring them nearly literally ALL my life. I grew up around restoration and it's been in my blood ever since. I got back into restoration as work, when I lived in San Diego... One of the cars I had my hands on...

To all: thank you!
Happy to be here :)

I'm still technically on vacation (Tourist Visa), so I can't work until I've my "Stamp 4 - Visa" later on in June, but I sure as hell have been busy! On our yard and house... Lots of trimming, painting, washing... I'll be moving here "perminantly" in June and hope to get into a software design/testing position... My college construction and welding days are far behind me... Plus I love my eyesight and welding doesn't embrace eye-health!

I hope to pick up a car in June/July and something picture-worthy...

Thanks and yeah, I've owned some greats and some that were downright "screaming metal deathtraps" I've owned from a TINY 1.3L to my first vehicle's 5.7 and a few trucks between 2.5L to 5.9L. I believe a 5.7L 1977 Ford Thunderbird in 1997 was an appropriate vehicle for a first car, but only because fuel was $0.81/gallon of fuel... (about $0.21/Liter) *about .17 euro/Liter*

Screaming Metal Deathtrap - Example: Flipped this one in a diagonal roll doing 70mph down a dirt road... I had a mishap while in full drift and I believe it was the front left tire going flat that caused the oops... I took this picture just after the roll...

This was after i banded everything up so I can ... YES, drive it home :p

Hehe, thank you for the karma! Ireland is a cool place, I've been able to do a few things, like seeing Newgrange and driving the ring of Kerry... The day BEFORE the Rally of the Lakes... I believe I saw six or seven different AE86 and AE85 Corollas... I loved my 1985 Celica GTS so was very tickled to see Subaru and Toyotas brainchild BRZ/FT86 revealed...

I do love cars.. hehe

And Thank you! And yeah, it's a bit of a rarity, even more-so here... I dont really have the heart to sell it... I hope to get the body work done with some funds after I sell my Forester/House that are still in the U.S...

Welcome to the club Ken :subaru:

Keep us updated on the Leone's progress

Thanks, and definitely! its a little further along than what it was in the pictures, but yeah, due to having limited time constraints before flying out here, I only had time to install the quarter panel on the forester... I really wanted to do the roof skin for the leone, but I'd have to have found enough time to drive 600 miles to Kentuckey to pick up the OEM 70s Scooby sheet metal a guy has there.. Great guy, but he's sooo busy and needed someone to crawl through a box car to where they're stored before it got too warm...
