hey Eric the two of us should go up and get an oul deal for two scoobies

Have to see what they offer first Mark before I decide what Garage to go with. I'll try all the dealer in Dublin to see and a few out side.

One in longford is looking to see if there would be interest in my car before he gets back but Lusk look like they might be interested, hopefully.

As I said though depends on the deal I get.

I think it actually looks quite well in white.

Wasn't overly impressed with the legacy diesel i test drove power wise but i'm sure it could have potential..

Sure was. I bought three impreza's off them.

2 from new and a second hand one.

Thought I might get a good deal from them but no joy as of yet.

I never bought a car off them but I get all my servcing done there. Peter is spot on with what he does, car is always perfect before it leaves. I'd totally trust them with my car

I'd still us them for everything only I live to far away now. Always found them great. It was Ian I was talking to today. Peter does know his stuff alright. Great lads down there.

I'll let you know Mark but so far so good.

Leo is sound enough but admitted himself that they are not long with Subaru (under a year) and that they don't know them ie. models etc inside out. So he has to research my car before he can make a trade in offer.

They seem fine though. Like all car dealer.

it says there on autoexpress that the new diesel sti will be roughly 155g/km so it would only be either 302 euro or 447 euro to tax as 302 euro only goes up to 155g/kms,thats good towards the 600 euro were paying now or the 2000 euro you would have to pay for the petrol version

The CO2 figures quoted by Autoexpress can't be right. Look at the official CO2 figures for the diesel WRX, 180 for the entry model and 185 for the two higher spec models. Also the two higher spec models are slower to 60mph than the entry spec model (9.0 plays 8.6). Maybe it has something to do with the lower drag co-efficient caused by the STI rear wing and bigger 17" wheels and tyres.

The new diesel STI will have to have more than 180bhp to compete with the likes of the BMW 123d twin turbo, the Audi TT tdi, Renault Sport Megan 180, Alpina B3 2.0 Twin Turbo diesel or even the revised Saab TTDI twin turbo. There are a lot of 170/180 plus 2.0 tdi's around nowadays so 180bhp is nothing special and certainly not worthy of the STI badge. The STI D would surely have to have a twin turbo system and produce at least 220-225 bhp before it can genuinely claim to be a proper sports car. A simple 400.00 euro generic remap of a BMW 123d will easily see it reach 240+bhp. I think people would be more than willing to trade some CO2 emissions for the extra power.

Also Subaru haven't confirmed that they will definitely make the STI D yet and even if they do make a more powerful Impreza Diesel it is likely they will just put a 180 bhp version of the current boxer diesel in the WRX bodyshell and call it an STI. After all, the way Subaru have acted with the present Impreza we have every right to be pessimistic!

The power for all Three models is the same but the two higher spec cars are carrying more weight in most ares. More speakers, Extra controls on the steering wheel, Side Skirts front spliter and rear defuser. Sports seat with leather etc. It all adds to the weight with no extra power their going to be slower.

The STi rear wing and 18" wheels do not come with any of the three models, If you look at C&R's add you'll see that they are extra's that cast extra. So if you wanted the car as seen in the C&R adds it'll cost the best part of €34000 if not more.

The new STi-d is said to have 180Bhp according to the mags that have writen about it so far.

For a new generation TDI the 0-60 time of 9 seconds is pretty poor. If the STI D is ever made and it only has 180 bhp it will struggle to top a 0-60 time of 7.5 seconds which is hardly a ball off fire for an STI an especially when you see cars with far less sporting pretensions passing you out (see my list in last post above).

With only 180bhp the STI D would have to be very keenly priced to attract people out of more powerful, cleaner, cheaper cars which might potentially hold their value better.

I agree that diesel are the performance cars of the future but with only 180bhp Subaru, rather than putting the P in performance, are taking it!

Totally agree its to little too late..if your going to enter the diesel market do it with a bang..it can't compete...also I heard the legacy diesel is unbelievably smokey..so bad a guy on uk legacy had his back to the dealers.

I have to say I've been looking at the other TD out there adn not impressed but the New Golf, Audi A4 or any of the others.

I like the Impreza better. Now I know you'd be taking a chance to some extend buying a diesel that is very new to the matket but I think I'd go for the Impreza or Legacy over the others.
