Click the link below. I read the comparison test in EVO this month between the Impreza Cosworth and the RS 500. Result? Impreza 31/2 stars RS 500 5 stars The Impreza was suffering form an intermittent ECU fault but that only cost it 10 to 20 bhp and nowhere near enough to explain its poor showing. Looks like Litchfiuelds Type is still king of the Imprezas.

Had the mag this ,month pretty disappointing.

I get the impression that the guys in most car mags, EVO included, are getting jaded with the whole rally replica scene. Times have moved on in the car world. If you dont have Turbo'd direct injection high compression injection engines you're just going nowhere. Stop-star is also great as it gets the CO2 outputs down and you can just switch it off whenever you want. Even the latest BMW M's and Porsches have it. Throw in some kind of kinetic energy capture system (brake or flywheel type) and a small battery powered source for low speed town driving and the future's bright. Looks like Porsche are the only ones to be embracing all of these technologies at once. Subaru hasn't even developed a petrol direct injection yet. I hope the Toyotaru will have a 2 liter DI Turbo AWD with stop start with sub 190 co2. Now that would seriously tempt me back. Oh and bring back unequal lenght manifolds again. Even the Impreza Cosworth couldn't hold a candle to the Focus RS's 5 cylinder warbling soundtrack.
