New (ish) here

Said I'd do a new one of these threads as my original one was many moons ago now and I never did get that Subaru in all those years.

But thats all about to change at last, I'm picking up my first subaru tomorrow, an irish impreza turbo wagon, can't wait to get it home and then the process of cleaning and changing loads of bits starts. Mechanically it seems good, reckon the only thing it needs is engine mounts but I'll see what its like after I've had it a week or two first.

I'll get some pics up tomorrow if its not too dark when I get home. :smokesubaru

Ah right there was a nice iris classic silver wagon round my way (dublin) that I knew was up for sale thought that might be it

Well wear????

Well I made it home anyway, thank god, I'm a little paranoid these days when I buy something new.

So, a few photos

Its not as good looking in real life but its by no means a wreck either. Definately needs tidying. Good brakes though.

So first things first,
Definately needs new engine mounts, the engine looks like its trying to make an escape from the bay, would I be mad to go group N? Is there much difference in price and anywhere here to buy parts?
The boost gauge needs to go, self tapping screws aren't really my idea of secure, I might see where else I can locate it a bit less conspicuously.
Then there's the dump valve, not sure its even working as it sounds like there's a pigeon trapped under the bonnet. Might go back to standard I think.
Power steering is a bit whiney sometimes so I'll do a bit of further investigation and maybe just a fluid change.
Then there's the starter, its a bit slow to get going so presumably battery or starter
And finally the interior rattles, a couple in particular will need to be found for me to retain my sanity.

Maybe I should start a project thread. :mechanic:
