New Legacy Estate owner

Hello all,
I picked up my '07 Legacy 2.0 petrol on Saturday.
Very very happy so far. :yellowthumb:
Its one owner from new, 89k miles with a fully stamped service history from Subaru Castle Garage in Bray.
They sold it in '07. I rang them and they knew the car and the owner. They were happy to verify all the work that has been done on the car.

Anyway, it needs a service in approx. 3,000km time. I was thinking of getting the first one done in Castle garage in Bray. I am based in Mayo so this is not the easiest of tasks, but if it gives me a little more peace of mind I am happy to do it. However, they are pretty pricey, quoted me €350 for the full service..!
Now, the pros of this route are they know the car and they know Subarus. The Cons are the price and the distance.
What do you guys reckon? Is it worth it?
Or is there any reputable indy specialists in the Mayo/Galway/Sligo area??

Sorry for the long first post. I'm just very keen to ensure I get the best advice and keep my new motor running sweet..!

welcome along  is it a dark navy 1 that was for sale in dublin :dontknow:. there a great car have 1 myself  anyway your local machanic should be able to servive it for you its a fairly straight forward job  . stick up a few photos

Welcome to the legacy gang. What are they doing for 350 Euro? I don't think its worth the trek. I'm sure someone from that direction will be along soon with some more local recommendations.

When all is said and done travelling to Bray from Mayo you can put another €100 at least on to your €350, I'm sure there will be someone over your neck of the woods that can service the car for you and save you the guts of €200.
Stick up a photo or two when ye get a chance :yellowthumb:

Thanks
Its more of a dark grey. I bought it as is, it wasn't even washed or hovered.!
Very honest car though.
I've it booked in for a full valet next week, will stick up pics after that
Its my first Subaru so I am a bit paranoid about giving it to the wrong guy especially with the nice history it has.
The Subaru dealership in Ballinrobe, Co Mayo mentioned that I need to use a particular type of oil and get something reset after each service to avoid an engine light coming on.
I had it in my head that they were a little more fickle to work on than your regular petrol, is this nonsense?

can't imagine where they are getting 350 from after selling her, would imagine it's a basic service, if its a subaru stamp yer after, browns in donegal would be closer or finnegans in balymahon (not sure is finnegan still a service dealer). i have had no dealings with these so would have to check them out, I'm sure one of the subaru specialist's on here can quote you for a servce, and will be closer then bray, and their stamp will be as respected in the service book as any main dealer. didn't know there was a dealer in balinrobe who is there. Once the oil is to proper spec your sorted and is it just the service light they are on about

there is no service light to turn off  if your anyway handy a filter will cost you 10 euros and 5w30 fully synthice oil will cost you 35-40 for mobil 1  air breather 20 euros and a polin filter behind the glove box is 22 i thing so all in your looking at 100 euros and 2 hours of your time

Thanks. Just to be clear, I bought the car private. Not from the dealership.
I would welcome any specialist here getting in touch, I'm not very mechanically aware. Just have an idea of the basics.
Love these cars though. :icon_biggrin:

Hi

We have no problem looking after her. We are based in Co. Meath so atill a good bit away from you.

There is no service light to turn off as said. Unusual thing to say from a dealer.

I am not that mighty on the mechanics side. I am just keen to keep her running sweet.
I have to say, since I threw this thread up yesterday I am a lot less inclined to spend silly money in the dealership.
Looking forward to getting the full valet next Thursday and sticking a few pics up.. :subaru:
Fair play guys. :yellowthumb:

unless that is including spark plugs aswell as coolant ant other fluids, hard to know what they were including in the price

Any competent mechanic could service it for you? Maybe some of the Galway lads could tell you who they use?
