Just a quick question re the new regs on the Nct. My car has an aftermarket momo stering wheel in it with no airbag. Now ,the airbag light comes on as normal and goes off when the car is started. I've heard from someone if a car with airbags as standard has a aftermarket steering wheel with none its a fail. Yes or No my reading of the regs is if the lights are faulty or on all the time then thats a fail????? http://www.ncts.ie/NewInspectionItems.aspx It passed the last time no probs so I don't want to have to go out and buy a new wheel just for the fecking NCT?

If your airbag is not connected then why does the light go out? It should stay on signaling a fault or in your case no airbag connected.

If the light goes out then I'd stick with the steering wheel you have.

If its working as normal then i wouldnt be concerned about it,
as the tester will only fail if the light is staying on, but it is a
strange one that the light is going off, my own wheel has been
changed for an after market nardi wheel and the light is on
constantly, won these sti clocks the weekend witch will
elimanate the light and add a nice touch well thats what
i told her anyway :shhh: :icon_biggrin:

you can bypass the system by sticking a resistor across it .
thats probably what the lad who had the car before you did ....

as long as the light goes off again they couldn't give a fiddlers f*ck

Most new boss kits comes with the connector to actually let the car think the air bag is working as the air bag works along the same system as the belt tensioners when an impact happens and if one doesn't work then neither does the other. You should be fine leaving it in as its not showing a fault
