New noise pollution laws

As above guards can now give on the the spot fines for cars with loud exhausts i think there getting other powers with it as well its being brought in with new laws regarding house alarms etc too fines can now also be given on the spot for a house alarm going off and the council want a number of another house key holder in case the owner is on holiday and it goes off, but anyway im def glad now i just have a standard exhaust

Hahaha what a joke still sticking to my nur spec and I'll be paying no fine it went through an nct with it on!!!!

will this "law" affect harley davidsons and the likes with proper loud exhausts ??

cant do one and not the other . and as blitzers said , if you have a nct ,would it not conform to existing laws .

I thought this had been in for well over a year now, when they were doing noise tests at the side of the road... There was a big discussion on here about it before... If there is traffic going by, they won't be able to take an accurate reading anyway and everyone knows the only target the high volume roads and shoot fish in a barrel...

I only seen it in the paper the other day cos they were saying bout the house owners getting hit with fines unless they fork out for new alarms i think the exhaust part of it has been brought in because of people swapping exhausts for the NCT and putting the loud ones back on after but its definately in now the paper made no mention of it being in before but they were prob looking for disturbing the peace or some such nonesense when they were checking them at the roadside before but its a specific offense now

I think this law is about about "NON Factory" fitted exhausts.

You can argue that a porsche or lambo or whatever is louder than your car but so are trucks, airplanes and everything else. The difference is they are all factory fitted exhaust systems.

I think the only loud exhaust that you'll be able to get away with is an STI Genome back box, especially on JDM cars, you can claim its a factory fitted option

Great, this should get those god awful loads shivics off the road

I'll be sticking with my Nur Spec. Not once been been pulled over or told about my exhaust in 6 years from any member of the guards.

Surely you could "claim" that any exhaust is a factory fitted option. Your average templemore graduate isn't going to know his STi Genome from Blitz Nur Spec.

Any time I've been asked about my exhaust by the guards they always start with "is this the original exhaust?" and I reply "it was on the car when I bought it". Once they don't start taking cars off people at the side of the road it probably won't be an issue.

Very true, but if you get a guard that knows his stuff then the only way to shut him up will be to show him the exhaust tip that has STI Genome stamped into it in pink and orange. When you've STI badges on your car its obvious to stevie wonder its a factory item. If he sees HKS or Blitz or whatever on it he MAY know there's no way its a factory item.

Thats what I meant.
