The boot in the hatch is the problem it’s very small compared with the hawk or even the focus . Do you see much of a difference in the hatch v focus boot Paul
 
focus isnt huge either joe but feels a goid bit bigger. dont put too much in it generally. i did a few trips to wales in the hatch with 3 bikes on the backand and three lads in the car with gear which it managed ok

weve done a few trips to france with the kids. the amount of crap twe bring is some mad, 5 bikes, bodybaords football gear etc. roofbox towbar and massive boot all come in handy. would ce very tight in a hatch...
 
5 door Fiesta ST? Can get them in the UK (have not seen many here), came out in 2016 or 2017, were only 3 door before that. Not as small as you may think, worth trying a newish fiesta for size to see if you think is big enough, if interested.

Plus is tax is €280 IIRC, easy enough on fuel and gets great reviews for being a fun car. Get mountune kit and brings it over 200bhp, while still keeping warranty intact.

Downsides it is less than 250bhp (but reckon would be fast enough) and could be too small.
