New Rig!

Before i introduce the new baby, I may as well give a brief history of the old one.

Bought my silver BH5a GTB in april 08 and was as happy as a pig in sh1t. It was a nice step up in power from a 1.5 almera and had a shed load of room to fit drums and other bits in the back with the seats down. It was lowered when it came in from Japan but the springs were pretty soft and didn't enjoy the roads in the west so much and the front passenger side one broke after a month or so. Luckily the original springs came with the car so up she went to standard height. Have no pics of it when it was low but her's one a when it was on standard springs:

Everything was going great until some idiot drove into our estate too fast in the wet and didnt make the corner and made a nice mess of both rear quarter panels in oct '09

Got it repaired and managed to get a nicer back bumper in the process

Fast forward to february this year and while i was dropping the missus into town, some genius pulled out of a side road and hit me.

While i was waiting on the insurance to get sorted i toyed with the idea of repairing it again or just buying a new wagon. There was some extra things like drop links and bushes to be sorted on the car so along with the repair and other small bits, the cost was adding up. After chatting to Sean (b4soon) and davelegacy, I had a nose through donedeal and carzone and saw a few but nothing that really stood out. Had a quick look on adverts and saw a minter and had pretty much made up my mind about it before i even went to see it.

Was a bit wary about it being an automatic but on the drive home from cork had to take some back roads from Gort to Athenry and the Tiptronic is the business. Was considering taking the box and bits from the silver wagon and doing a conversion but the more i drive the auto, the better it's getting. It also has a longer top gear. At 3000rpm the auto is sitting just over 120kph while 5th in the old manual was 115kph at 3000rpm so saving some petrol too!!

well done, Peadar, I've seen this car twice in the last week. It looks outstanding in the flesh.
The red is gorgeous on her. :subaru:

seen a red blitzen estate just like yours on the way home from the last night meet and was very impressed , best of luck with the new motor

Fairly clean looking motor!
The red stands out and gives depth!
Nice to see something like this going to a good ownerwho will look after it

Peadar gave me a look at the new wagon during the weekend-its absolutely as new and straight as a die. Would love it myself-imagine overtaking reps in their 320d's in it with a labrador looking out the back window at them. And is this one of the rarest Subarus in Ireland??? Anyone know of any more?

Thanks for the kind words gents. Gonna get the wax out in a couple of days and make sure she doesnt go pink!!!

Where did you see it Tommy? I've spotted a few blitzen saloons in the last couple of years and there's a red rev D one knocking about galway but wagons are a rarity i think
