Hello Charlie & Welcome to the Club

Subaru's in general can be very reliable, with a few very simple basics:

Don't run them low on oil
Don't over-heat them
Change the oil & filter regularly
Use the correct fuel

With these basic checks you should really have no major engine issues

Welcome to the site.

I've had nine impreza isnce 2002 and only troule I had was a maf in my version six STi went and was replaced that same day and never again gave any problems. The lad I sold it to still has it and there are no issues.

Best of luck with your hunt for an Impreza. Just be sure you buy a good one as they are like all cars if not looked after they will give problems.
