Newbie - Rear noise on 03 STi

Looking at an STi at the minute, but when taking off when lifting the clutch theres a slight noise in th eback. I though it was the rear shocks as they give problems, but I dont hear the noise when driving, just when tkaing off releasing the clutch. Noise is 100% coming from the rear so im guessing the diff? Drives fine though. Do the rear diff's give problems, or suffer from squaking(like EVO rear diffs) when they need the fluid changed?

How expensive would a rear diff be for an STi ?

200 to 300 euro for a used Diff I would guess.

Any whining noise from the back while driving?

could be the shock knocking its a common fault with sti's.. I had it on my 03 sti and now I have it on my 06 one too. Local Subaru garage just put grease nipple in and give it a shot of grease.. beats paying €1200 odd for new ones

its just a common nice in this mate happends in my jdm just be carefull when your puttin grease on that u dnt put to much on...

put them drop links onto it frm jomo did no odds either, grease only way to go mate..

Any chance you'd take a pic and show us where exactly they put the nipple?
Same thing on my 03 sti obviously, and I was wondering about doing this, but wasn't sure where exactly to put the nipple.

Cheers!

I have mine booked in for saturday to get done so I'll let you knnow then. Remind me of it again incase I forget as I am a bit of a feather head lately
