Hi folks,

Posted earlier for help with VRT assessement - and already got some posts back - Thanks for that!

Just thought I'd drop a few lines on here to introduce myself... I was on here a few years ago (ex's login as was her car) when had a '96 STI v3.

After that got an '04 WRX SL... was OK as daily runner, but not the power that I was used to, though still stuck with it for 2 years as was nice car all the same.

Switched to an '08 JCW MINI for a while... lovely car, great club... but very hard sprug and not suitable for the rough Wickla roads really (skipping across humps and only touching the black stuff in places doesn't make for great roadholding) :eek7:
Probably didn't help I did my back in right after I got the JCW.

Ended up getting an A4 estate... yep you read right... AND... it was diesel and automatic :ponder:
But... was 3.0 Quattro and fitted Bilsteins... so not too bad all said and done... but not a :subaru:

So... did the only thing that made sense after two years of diesel...

:scoobyblue_1:

Bought a 2007 Hawkeye STI 2.5L... back to what makes me happy! :multijump:

Getting her mapped for RON95 next time Bob Rawle is over, which should be in June (Sean's on the case).

Looking forward to meeting up with ye at next meet - and here of course before that time...

Welcome along,

No need to map it if just for fuel, it's a uk spec car it's grand on 95!

Actually it isnt Johnny , all 2.5 sti's are recommended to be ran on 98 ron , be they irish or uk , mentioned in both the owners manual and also a little sticker on the petrol cap , but E5 seems to be ok in them ,

What part of wicklow you living in , havent seen an uk reg'd hawks knocking around , ohh welcome back

Welcome back Charles :welcome: :subaru:

But they sold them here, so wouldn't it just retard the timing to suit 95?

Dunno Rob just going by what the manual and petrol cap says ,but in theory yes the ecu should learn to retard timing , i do know my own car didnt like anything other than e5 , but felt even better on vpower when i was in the uk with it , id only use Maxol e5 ,

By any chance have you tried regular unleaded recently? I've been told by a few people that al the petrol stations are now supplying E5 as an Eu directive. Just wondering if you still felt a difference if you've done it recently?

havent done so Rob , heard simular but i'm nervous enough to try it she's mapped for e5 so think i'l stick with it , even when i had the sport you could feel a difference between say maxol and topaz ,

I have been using texaco petrol in the impreza for a good while now instead of maxol e5 and i find the car runs alot smoother

funny you mention texaco now , we have fuel cards for work vans and they are for texaco garages , but maxol also accept them so am wondering if they are interlinked somehow

Welcome keadeen.

Just to throw in my twopence worth.
Mines mapped for normal run of the mill texaco with half bttl octane.

Have ran it with and without octane on texaco and maxol and never noticed a slight difference.

Hi folks,

great to be welcomed back into the Scooby family!

The v3 deffo only liked the Maxol E5, though used to have 5 litre jerrycan in boot with E85 to throw into tank if couldn't get Maxol so still kind of worked out at E5.

The '04 WRX SL rang fine on ESSO normal stuff, though deffo smoother and faster with E5.

Only got the Hawk a week ago and not driving it much till have Audi sold and Scooby on IE plates.
Guy I got it from used to run a Subaru dealership in the UK and now is an instructor in PROdrive. He said it will run on 95 if don't drive it hard, but drive it hard and will damage it. Bob Rawle said the same when I asked him. So not taking a chance and getting her properly mapped for 95 as soon as...

Going to Cars & Coffee on Sunday so probably will see some of ye then...

Bob mapped my car a few weeks ago and its a master job , i'd recommend going for race rom , dual maps and some nice features , see you at cars and coffee and karma for joining up as full member
