I support that check point :clap:people think if they stay on the m50 and main roads there grand no check points. This will have them thinking . Clowns who drink and drive put lives at risk end of and Iv no time for that .

Stopping the m50 is madness for 1 arrest and 2 cars without tax its putting the general motorist who doesent drink and drive at risk
surely do random exits of m50 every night and then people won't know if there exit is going to have a check point is safer

They done one on M50 about 8 years ago at toll bridge.

Massive.

As you exit the toll. So was low speed just after barrier both sides

How is it putting anyone at risk there's a check point stop ?? It no differant than an accident on the m50 . I think 99% of motorist wont have a problem with it

My opinion about the cops is clear...
I would be curious to see a statistics how many people got caught drunk driving out of how many people stopped(harrassed) on one of the biggest and more important piece of road in Ireland. How many got late for work/home/airport etc. just because someone was too lazy to fill up their quota on secondary roads. Is it statisticly significan percentage to justify such a logistic mayhem?

Plenty of lads on here have family/friends in cops tommy so don,t agree with your comments obvivously, both in this post and other threads but your entitled to your opinion and with the greatest of respect to other countries the cops in this country are by in large fairly sound to deal with and fair,

The purpose of this checkpoint was not just to arrest one driver for a warrant and another for being over the limit or no tax. This is being pro-active. They are showing their presence. People complain that they are not visible on the roads but when an operation as big as this is running, people complain too.

I don't think it's a waste of my tax money and I support every effort made to combat road infractions. If you have a full window, you have nothing to fear. I have family in the force and I'd like to see their jobs made easier. They get a rough going in this country for low pay.

I do agree with you that the cops in here are much better than in all other country l've been living in, but l cann't understand their silent consent of being goverments/banks tax collectors instead of fighting the crimes and 'serve and protect'. And the only time they stood up against the government was.... when they wanted a payrise.
I wont go into details of robbery in my house 4 years ago with a clear finger prints on the window they open with screwdriver and cops said they will send a crew to take those finger prints .... well lets just say lm still waiting. And our house was one of around 10 they brake into according to the cops own words.
An a fresh one. New spot for harrassing: Rosslare just before the ferry. Me and my friend have a habbit when we travel home (poland ) to bring a car for breaking to help with travel expences. We always get polish insurance for the car. My friend got stopped. He show the insurance and was good enough since they let him go out of the country. Now out of the blue he got letter being summoned in court in Wexford as " he failed to produce valid insurance". So he has to take off work, waste time and money probably hire a solicitor for what?

Fair enough tommy you had bad experience and formed your opinion off that and rightly so but its unfair to generalise thats all im saying, and to be fair its pay restoration not a pay increase they were on about, ????
