Something like the D60/D3000 is probably what i'd be looking for but would consider a D40 if it was a good deal. Currently looking to spend around the €350 mark on a good condition one with warranty :thumbsup:

For first camera its a good start but not a DSLR, its one of those in-betweener camera's. i had Fuji S5000 years ago which was a similar bridge camera.

Fujifilm sees the S9500 Zoom as the point where compact and DSLRs meet as it offers the resolution and control of an SLR, while at the same time offering functions associated with a compact camera.

You could try some of the Dublin camera shops in town, they might have some 2nd hand camera's, probably only with a 3 month warranty though

Cheers Dan, probably looking for a good second hand deal, doesnt have to be new... Just need something good quality that works. What are the best camera shops around and where are they? Any close to the M50?

Was also looking on donedeal and there's a D60 for sale with a few extras for €350 but no pictures so god knows what condition its in

make sure you ask them how many actuations there is on the camera as in how many pictures were taken, the lower the better, go for the D60 if you can, few extra's over the D40 such as sensor cleaning on start up.

I sold my D60 with 4gb memory card all the accesories and camera bag for 350 last year so, you should get one for close to 300
 
How do you check how many actuations there were? Does the picture quality degrade over time with the amount of pictures taken?

it not worth 400, i would offer him 280 max for that check for dust inside he lense, make sure it auto focuses quickly and that, i can go with you to check it out with you whenever :)
 
Sound dan, may call on you for inspection purposes :icon_grin: ... Gonna go and give a few of them a ring now and see... Found a D60 with a 55-200mm lens for €350... Can that be used for close ups or is that for long range shots?

sounds about right for a D40. Might be a lad selling a D60 in work, ill check and let you know
 
Its actually my old D60, ol' lad in work bought it for his missus and she said it was too technical for her! He will get back to me later today or in the morning. think he is looking for about 350 for it. I think he used it twice since i sold it to him!
 
His missus isnt Nora thatcham, is it? Saw her D60 camera for sale for €350... What accessories does it come with? How old is it and is it still under warranty? Would he do a bit of negotiating on the price seeing as he bought it off you for €350 a year ago??

Just spoke to yer one about the D40 camera ( http://www.gumtree.ie/dublin/29/54114729.html ), its up for €320 but said she'd take €290 for it. 6months old and about 1,000 pictures taken.. No camera bag but everything that came in the box comes with it.. Whatta ya think? I could probably push her down to €270 if i ring her back again with a firm interest...
