Nikon DSLR camera

no she's not! not sure about warranty since i bought it 2nd hand off someone on photography Ireland. Sold it to him last November i think. should have memory card and crumpler bag with it. not sure if he he would budge to much on price he is a stubborn ol lad and haggled the hell out of me to get me down from 450 to 350! Ill find out tomorrow.

If you can get the D40 for 270 i think you would be doing well. I sold my old D40 to Nic spec C so maybe see how he finds it. there isnt much between the too, picture quality wise. the D60 has the same size sensor as D60 which has more mega pixels squeezing onto the same sensor so some say D40 is better that way. D60 has the dust cleaning system which will help keep you pics dust free.

D40 must be more than 6 months old though as they stopped making them more than a year ago i though. if her's is still under warranty and that, maybe a better option for you :icon_headbang:

Let me know later today or tomorrow or maybe pm me his number and I'll give him a shout

Can a D60 with a 55-200mm lens be used for close ups or is that for long range shots?

55-200 is basically already zoomed in to 55mm so it would be more for zooming right in on something or getting close to something in the distance. the lower the first number ie 18mm the wider the angle of the lense letting you fit more into the picture. 18-55mm is good starter lense then once you get used to that you can see what needs you have form a lense, ie more zoom wanted or a quicker lense thats better in low light etc. Nikon 18-200mm lense is the perfect all rounder but at nearly 500 euro for the lense alone its not worth it unless you have money to burn!

Cheers Dan, it'd be nearly all close ups that I'd be using the camera for trying to capture a lot of detail in the pics so the 18-55 would probably be best for me?

like baby pictures etc? indoors in spaces where you cant really move too far away from subject etc? 18-55 would be better for those situations whereas 55-200 would be good for Mondello! I have an 18-105mm on mine and a 70-300mm. i rarely change to the 70-300 though. you wont get the 18-105 on the entry level Nikon's as its too expensive!

Hope that helps. If you want to meet up and have a mess around with mine before you buy, im free today and tomorrow after work
