no tax or nct

looking for a bit of info. I bought my car on august 22nd and have no tax book so cant tax it yet. there is also no nct on it. Im wondering what happens if i meet a member of the law round japfest at the weekend??
is there a leniency on waiting for tax book to come thru to tax a car and book in nct or should i leave the car at home?
any advice/suggestions welcome. :thumbsup:
 
well for starters book car in for test, that way if you do get stopped you have it booked in....

as for the tax it really depends how long long the tax is out by and as marko said the guard you bump into :thumbsup:
 
The girl friend was waitin a month for tax book to come back and passed several checkpoints etc and had no hassle ,
just kept the receipt for the car with her as it proved she hadn't got the car long ,

Alot depends on the copper on the day as Marko said
 
i had mine 3 days and i got pulled they still sent me the fine even tho i had my insurance and all documents showin that i had just vrted it 3 days before it. depends on the guard cause this one was just out for anything on anyone she found

can it be booked for nct without taxbook?? tax is out since june but car is only in my ownership 2 weeks this saturday. I guess i'll chance it and hope for the best. break out the sad & sorry head if i bump into the 5-0 :new_puppy_dog_eyes:

wonder would she tackle some of the foreign cars(uk reg stuff) on the road like that!!!

she threatened to take it off me and was been smart and stuff, i went the the guards station after it and he said i prob wouldnt get the fine but i did, i didnt pay the fine cause i was and a year later still pepared to go to court cause i actually couldnt tax it. ive still got the papers to prove if it ever does come back to me
 
A local garda said on the radio that a nct letter wont cover you to drive the car legally, it only covers you on the day of nct test. but i suppose it depends on the garda you meet

I bet thats the same one that tried doing me for no tax while i was waiting for the tax office to open!

Thats a pox some will arrest there own granny like stone they are, but there are the ok ones
i was stoped a couple of days after i bought the car not even a disc holder in the car never
mind a disc but the gaurd had a laugh about it and just asked me to produce,
how long is the tax out? :thumbsup:

out since june but no disc in the window. figured no disc was better than one out of date!! Heres hopin i dont get stopped by a hardnut. :pray:
 
I got my papers within 3 weeks of purchasing the car....
Got stopped twice driving the car without tax in that time....
Showed them the reciept and they where fine with that.....
 
i got stoped in ballymount in the type r,i only had it two weeks,no tax no nct,i had emailed the motor tax office after week complaning i had no tax book and couldent tax my car witch i told them i didnt like... :roll:...i got a reply from them stating i could back tax it when i got the tax book,i printed of a copy and keep it in the car,to make a long story short,i had insurance and gave the copy of the reply to the guard,he was ok about it and sent me on my way :hjtwofinger:
 
If there no tax on car, you can get the log book off the owner and go straight in and hand itin to tax office, tax it and they take it and you get it back in around 3 or 4 days in your name. maybe Get something off Wetpatch saying that you just bought it off him, with date etc etc and that should cover you, think you can ring nct and change it to your name with them a book an nct.. a booking should be good enough :thumbsup:

Just tell them the truth that you are waiting on the tax book before you can get anything done.
Once your not out messing or giving the cops something to moan about you should be fine :thumbsup:

Wouldn't chance it to b honest bound to b plenty of cop's around for an event like this .
