Normal Cars are bloody dangerous!!

Any of you complaining about fwd or rwd compared to awd-seriously people-learn to drive. As someone who drives for a living you all need to learn to compensate for what youre driving.

She is not as good driver as most of You here so exactly that's why the 4wd is safer for Her.

If the yaris is spinning up easy, its the tyres, and under steer, its the tyres aswell.

I got 2 new tyres put on front of womans primera, they were a middle of the road price range, and were fookn lethal in the wet, so bad i brought them back up and paid 40 quid extra for falkens to be fitted, cant remember the brand, guy said he never had complaints about them before. They were crap anyway and had to come off, it woulnt go around a shallow bend in the wet.

scoobies were always known for bad understeer

No doubt, cars are setup to understeer when they reach their limits,
M3 for example, runs neutral camber on the front and near 2 deg neg on the back

But normal cars with high profile, narrow tyres, floaty suspension, reach their limits all to soon,
Budget tyres just make it so much worse,
Next tyres for the foz will be another set of P Zero's, T1R's or F1's

Have to say i found the Goodyear F1, a great all round tyre, dry and wet, for grip and the lasted a good while 2.
I found p zero good grip, but got no going out of them and found they were prone to get bulges on side wall if you hit a pot hole

I used to always use Uniroyals,
Would I be right in saying, that they are a great wet weather tyre because they tend to have a soft sidewall that other tyres??
So they'd be more prone damage with potholes and they wouldn't be as responsive in the dry?

Bridgestone Potenza RE050 that came standard on the forester were very good also!

rainsports 2 are great in the dry as well, read the test.

we had f1s on the b4 and t1Rs on the impreza both excellent tires in dry and wet conditions. i wouldnt be able to say which one is better

I tought they came on Yokohama Geolandar ( They defenetly came on Yoko Geo in most countries in Eu) but that 4 season tyre is crap.

I wouldn't have thought so!
I think mine had 1500KM on her when I got her, she still had plastic on the sills and floor mats,
So I'm pretty sure that 225/45/18 potenzas were origional fitment,
Probably just the STI version, as they are Jap only so never sold in the EU!

i am now driving a 1.4 opel astra and it is driving me insane there is no pick up on it 0-60 takes 3 days  and going around a corner or a roundabout it has a tendancy to slide like its on ice (4 brand new tyres on it all bridgestone) i hate driving it but i have to

compared to the scooby i had

0-60 in holy sh*t i better slow down
throwing it into a roundabout @40 in the pouring rain and held perfect and off the lights before the other cars noticed they had changed

god i miss it :icon_cry:

uniroyal rainsports2..best tyres Ive ever had...check out EVO's group tyre test as well, came 2nd overall beat out much more expensive tyres.

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2010-EVO-Tyre-Test.htm

I read that test as I've been an EVO subscriber for the past 6 -7 years but I just dont believe the test was fair as it was conducted on a test track owned by Continental in Germany and guess who won. Continental also own Uniroyal so guess who came second? Last prize goes to anyone who guesses why Bridgestone and Mitcheline's F1 and PS3 respectively were not tested against the Conti Sportcontact 3! Look at any tyre test on the net and the PS3 hammers everything else with the F1 a very close second. The Conti Sport Contact 3 is a very good tyre and also does very well but I've never seen it beat the PS3 (or even the PS2) or Eagle F1 asymetric so I can't take the results of EVO's tyre test seriously.

Having said al that I'm sure the Conti sport 3 and Uniroyal are great tyres and represent far better value for money than the PS3 and to a lesser extent the F1. Those tyres just dont offer a significant enough gain on the road to justify the huge premium they charge.

I posted up another test here before with the rainsports scoring higher than the F1's...I've had both and the rainsports where better all round..I gave that opinion before reading any test..but again its only opinion...I think when you referring to F1' you mean Goodyear but?

Heres another test this is an independent test carried out in 2009
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2009-Auto-Zeitung-Summer-Tyre-Test.htm

What ever you think of the result being fixed the rainsports score high when ever they are tested, and they are on average 30-40% cheaper.

I would have no hesitation looking at either Continental or Uniroyals next time I change tyres. Yes I did mean Goodyear eagles when I referred to "F1". Unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket Mitchelines are just not worth the extra outlay. They may be the best but anyone who pushes a tyre that far on the public road is only asking for trouble and on track a semi cup tyre would be better so it shard to justify the huge mark up other than having some kind of reassurance that you have the best possible road tyre underneath you. For some that will be important but they would want to have deep pockets to afford them nowadays as Mitcheline Pilot Sport PS2 are 245 40 ZR 18 are Eur 300 a corner fitted in the ROI.
