Not boosting properly.

Derek type ra

Petrolheads
Was coming back from mullingar earlier, everything was fine boosting to 1 bar, then going down onto the motorway and the car won't boost past .6. Like one sec fine the next not. Whats up with it? checked everything 3 times and seems in order. Would the bov be at fault? seals or something, sounds weird but the engine feels smoother (was a little jerky recently) since this happened. Just won't boost right. :hammerhead:

That be normal as in no vaccum line of. Could be number of things. Check these:

1. Intercooler pipe spilt or loose
2. Turbo intake pipe slightly of at turbo or very common ripped
3. A vaccum line spilt thats only issue under boost possibly around acuator or turbo compresser housing

Will do going to attack it in the morning, it wouldn't be a limp mode? would i get check lights if it was that?

You mean check engine light?

A water temp sensor failure that ecu reads or a knock sensor issue ecu would run in a form of limp mode but would throw up a check engine light.

Water temp permanent light. Knock sensor early stages be intermittant.

Yea engine check not getting any so that rules out the limp mode, cheers just trying to narrow it down a little.

Faulty lambda sensor may have the car running very rich causing issues. Increase in consumption? Black about exhaust tip?

No no increase in consumption, just replaced that recently also.

I had the same problem couple weeks back car going into safe mode couldnt work out why turned out there was a slit in a small pipe coming off the turbo fixed that it hasnt done it since
