Not happy with work.

Not easy when there is kids involved, Bike is not really a solution because of shitty weather.
If your hours were reasonale or could maybe be worked around a bit, would it be possible to work in hours over say 3 days like in a factory??? or maybe if you could finish at 4pm you would be home in what 1 -1.5hrs??

No Ken the army doesn't work that way mate. 8:30 to 4:30 Monday to Friday if your in Saturday or Sunday normally 24hr 9-9 Sunday to Monday if you do 24hr you rest the rest of that day.

crappy news pal :icon_sad:

i know its not much but its better than nothing, think of all the people who would gladly travel any distance to get a few bob these days.

bike would be a nice option but you have to think of those dodgey january and december dark winter evenings when its pissing rain. bad enough in a car but id say its life in your own hands on a bike.

sale of the wrx would have been handy now i guess

i hope all works out well in the long run for you bud

Sure elaine hasn't work in a year so one income doesn't go far. Goes even less now but yes I should be thankful I have a job that has been hit with pay cut after pay cut and as soo. As they say they won't touch the pay any more more you and you loose money that way.

Subaru once again has to go but fu*k trying to sell it, so looking at threading it now against a diesel for the winter month. Only lucky the weddings next Friday. Any money that we get from that will help buy the diesel .

A well I still have my health my familY and my friends so it coul be worse.

Five years to the end of my contract and then bye bye Army.

sure thing, nothing worse than pay cuts, instantly makes work that bit harder and makes you less motivated.
least you can see an end that is 5 years

I dont know your budget or anything for buying a diesel or what kind of car your looking for but my grandad has a 04 fabia 1.4 Diesel and from waterford to dublin on the motorway he get 70+MPG at 70MPH and in around town in never drops below 55MPG.

also a look at the vw polo 3 cylinder Blue motion may also be an option although they are a little newer.

granted they may not be the nicest cars for a long journey but that wouldnt bother me :dontknow:

they would be my choice anyway if fuel economy was priority

Anyway all the best for the wedding, have a great day :icon_jook:

Hard luck dude, there's a lot of that kind of thing around - employers have the power now and are pushing the boundaries. I got moved this time last year from a 10 mile per day commute to 100 miles per day. At the end of the day young families, big mortgages etc. make the decisions for us all and lifestyle, car choice etc. goes out the window. Employers know this and prey on it a little in this climate.

Hi Eric,

That's a balls alright :wall: :wall:
Hopefully you might be able to rent "room only"
and get a "box" room cheap !! :dontknow:

All the best to you and Elaine next Fri

Another Goodman Down ...........

NIall.

A few lads from the curragh (Kildare) are heading your direction. That would be worse. Threaded the Impreza today against a diesel so for the commute as there no accommodation in Athlone barracks so bike on good days and car when it gets cold and Icey. Thinking of camping beleave it or not. Showering and washing in the barracks camping Monday to Thursday. Home on Friday. Their saying it will happen to all of my unit for three months until everything is in place then they'll look at transferring some that have to transfer back up all dependent on reasons.

Sorry to hear that Eric, but congrats on the upcoming nuptuals. Here is my solution.

Trade that nasty daysul burner that you traded the WRX for this or something similar http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/campers/3544183 and camp out close to the barracks, then rent out the other 4 berths to 4 work mates for 50 euro each a week and you will be quids in by about 100 beer vouchers every week. Or you could rent it out to the local hookers and take a 10% commission :police: Either way you are not out of pocket :icon_biggrin:
