my 05 wrx prodrive does 500-550km on normally driving
abit harder on da foot 450km

jesus thats serious driving done, i really cant believe that, have you worked it out right??

id be lucky to get 400kms for a full tank at a cost of 70 euro doing average driving in a standard 2.5 uk spec wrx and much the same in the old type r

I also find that really amazing - 550km is 344 miles from a tank!!!! When I first got my WRX I did over 300 miles to a tank a couple of times but they were both long trips on N roads with no overtaking etc.

i can go from castletownbere to cork and back on 25/30euro thats - 260 km return trip if not a wee bit more from driving around cork.
i do that once every 6 weeks so have it clocked prefect now.

but lads im not a heavy driver - always freaked out i will get stopped when i drive her on and our roads here are shite you cant drive on at the best of times until you get passed bantry or kenmare / killareny

plus i have points too so just tryin not to get more til they are gone in the next year :)

this will seem abit mad when i say this but when we done the galway karting event last week i used nearly a tank to do the round trip of 320 odd miles with 3 of us in the car over back roads that were in sh*t (thanks Dec lol) thats nearly 500km on a tank in a 2.5 sti , and its not as if i was driving slow or trying to get good mileage

Tommy, would the 6th gear be a big advantage over just having 5? What kind of revs would you be doing in 6th say at 100km\h?

massive advantage , up to about 60 mph the car would be sub 2000 rpm id say , you dont even hear the engine , 6 speed conversion was on the cards for the rx and wasnt a difficult job but thats history now lol ,

Uk WRX models do around same revs at certain speed as 6 speed STI-s. I know JDM cars have shorter gears. Friend of mine drives a '95 RA with 6speed conversion and asked Me the same question about revs. He gets :100 - 2500
130 - 3000
140 - 3500
160 - 4000
190 - 4500
and it's almost the same as with My UK V6. So STI 4-5-6th gear is like 3-4-5th WRX

that was my next question i drive at 70 mph my rpm is a 2700rpm to me that is a realy fast car my gtt skyline was at 3100 rpm at the same speed and the same redline, also are uk speck wrx diffrent gear ratios than jap speck also what rpm would an sti be at at 70 mph

lucky it wasn't 3 fatties on board or you'd be 100km down :icon_biggrin:

in mine in 5th 70mph is exactly 3500rpm and it stays like that speeding up ie 80 is 4000, 90 is 4500 and so on but i have a different gearbox to a standard sti

That's brilliant, I would love cruising, listening to that burble at ~2000rpm. Was just thinking about having 6 gears in my rx the other night and what it would be like. I came up the N18 last week doing about 130km\h and she was doing around ~3700rpm. There was savage noise from both the road surface and the engine, so much so that we turned off the radio because we couldnt hear a thing!

btw, i know it's not a wrx but the rx gives 600+km to a tank.......
