Oh, we dont insure Subarus!!

I called an insurance company this morning to get a quote for the WRX.

The helpful lady pointed out that they dont cover Jap imports. I let her know that mine isnt a Japper & she then clarified & explained that they cannot quote for anything in 'the entire Subaru range'.

I roared laughing, thanked her & hung up - I got my renewal elsewhere for just short of 790Eur, which aint that bad I suppose :smile:
 
Same thing happened to me except i was insured with quinn and when i tried to renew they tell me they don't insure Subarus but she will insure me for 2,000 a jump of 900 euro,
told the where to go and got insured off Chill.ie for 860

remember one time i was told "i'm sorry Mr Kavanagh but we are unable to give you a quote at this time as your car is a high performance vehicle" :roll:

i broke my heart laughing , it was only a 1.6 and the only part of it that was high performance was the way it emptied the petrol tank :subaru:

had exactly the same situation when i had 1.6l one.

I had a starlet turbo with quinn direct and rang for a quote on a wrx wagon,they told me it was a high powered car and could not quote me.I den told her i am after putting a €1000 depo on the car and what am i going to do now as i have to buy the car or me grand is gone.She said hold the line and ill see what i can do,she comes back so say ya we can give you a quote and quoted me about €200 on top of what id payed in all it was about €750 this was about 3 year ago/ IT WORKED FOR ME SO TRY IT OUT :thumbsup:
 
My girlfriend is looking around for quotes at the minute on a 1.5 2008 Impreza that we seen. She didn't want to commit to anything until she checked for insurance etc. Rang around and got this exact line from most of them! Even had a company quote her over €2k (on a 1.5!!!) because it is a high performance car!!! They'd make you laugh sometimes!

It's some joke alright. When I was renewing the insurance a few years back on my Impreza (1.6), Axa told me they wouldn't quote me until I was over 25. Grand no bother and stayed with Hibernian that year. Next time round I was over 25 so went back to Axa...."sorry we can't cover you on a Subaru Impreza until you are 30"

If they stay going like that they will be still telling me to come back when I'm older in 30 years time :lol: :lol: :lol:

The ironic thing is I'm actually insured with Axa through a broker for €480 so I'd recommend getting a few quotes from brokers.
 
If I had a cent for each time I heard this "oh we dont insure subarus" line I'd be a very rich man. Insurance companies are a joke onto themselves :angry1:
 
Its hit and miss, they pull numbers out of the sky!
I could only get insured with one company Avia fully comp €520 for a 1.5 jap import and the other
half is a named driver on it so wasnt too bad.
 
i wonder would they give you a quote on a dodge viper/ferrari f50 or are they classed as a high performance cars , prob wouldnt even list them.

as bad a shower as the bankers :whistle:
 
Get this one. I recently changed my legacy petrol for a new diesel. I had the subaru rear spoiler fitted after i bought the car. Because i work in insurance i notified them and they withdraw cover immediately because it was a 'modified car'!! Its as if my diesel turned in to a 600bhp monster because a spoiler was put on it!! What a joke. The moral of the story - dont feckin tell em
 
chill.ie seem to cover subarus. Just got a quote off them which was pretty decent. €753 for fully comp
 
Just tried to get a quote from Chill for a laugh and was not quoted online. "Were sorry but we are unable to provide cover for you"

Im 29, 7 years no claims! Full license since 18!

I changed my age to 30 and got quoted 1088euro fully comprehensive.
 
The company they supplied the quote for was kennco highway cover. Might be worth trying them directly
