Oh, we dont insure Subarus!!

When i was doing all of this last september I was only able to get 2 quotes on the sti, both well north of 2k with huge excess. I was 25 with 6 yrs NCB and no points, full licence since 17.

Ended up having to put it in the Mothers Name.
So i asked, change her policy from octavia tdi to the sti and name me on it--an additional 1200 a year!
So i asked, change her policy from octavia tdi to the sti and i'd drive it third party under my own policy. Extra 380 a year
Then "Just out of curiousity, how much is it for Open drive?" Oh, that will be 690 for the year!!

WHERE IS THE LOGIC??
I'm insured with the same company (aviva) with my policy, I've been named on 2 seperate commercial policies at the same time also, so they know I've been driving all that time, have NCB, no points etc etc, yet its still dearer to name one person than have open drive??

So total is about 1100 a year open drive.
I could have had a B4 legacy in own name open drive for 800.

Hi all

I work for an insurance company. heres a tip for ye all. if your current insurer wont quote you on a impreza go get quotes of 3 other insurance compaines and if they all decline to quote you which most will you current insurer is then legally obliged to give you a quotation. they will have to see a letter first from the 3 companies that declined to quote and then they will have to quote you on the Subaru.

Hope this might come in handy. :subaru:

Regards
Tommy

i was nervous quinn would say that, but got fully comp for 700 on the b4, expected to be paying a fortune happy days!

How many years no claims you have hego and age etc?I am still paying over what I think i should be and will be with quinn 3 years in june, :angry1:

Should come down a lot tho cuz Iam 25 with 3 no claims

i'm 26
have 2yrs on my own and had 4/5yrs named which was nothing really
best thing was there was 60 euro in the difference between third party and fully comp!
they wanted another 500 more if i stayed on my Levin ha jokers
car is fully insured as a b4 rsk and all, no dodgy stuff ha not taking the chance

Godd stuff

Mine should defo come down this year, i still dont think they have a clue about b4's tbh, 2 years ago got insured no bother, the insurance did not change from a dc2 to a leggy! If it was an impreza Iam sure there would be problems :angry1:

wouldn't try an impreza they told me go jump before, plus i'd miss the twin turbo pull like a train feeling haha

my insurance is up for renewal soon, i just sent them an email asking how much would it be if i was to change to a 2007 impreza sti, interesting to see what they say. Currently with First Ireland paying 1100 last year(claim within last 3 years :icon_cry: )

if i do change to an impreza sti my insurance would be 1230, whereas if i keep the Legacy it would be 1360 for next year! thats mental. not that im selling up or anything!

Goes to show that they dont have a bleedin clue...good to know tho  In case you ever want to go over to the darkside

What you driving, your new here pop in and say hello

Have to say First Ireland seem to be ok, when i crashed my B4 i was insured with Quinn and they wanted approx €3k when renewal came around, obviously i told them where to go, took Altezza-Dans advice and went with First Ireland. Before my crash, i was paying €1700 with Quinn, 23, full clean licence, 2 years ncb, First Ireland said they'd match the €1700 that i was originally paying even though i had a smack but there was a €2k excess, even came down €200 this year so its all good.
