Oil pressure all over the gaff

Anyone else getting this with the cold weather. The gauge is worse than the rev counter until the oil hits 75º. does the viscosity change that much when very cold :ponder:

My oil pressure gauge is not doing that.

Might be worth investigating.

autogauge. when the oil warms up it stays fairly constant. the oil level is just below full and the oil isn't over worked as the temp doesn't really go over 90

ironically I have the same gauge and as I said its not doing that.

Have a look from cold start please and see what happens  maybe there is bits of piston rings, valve collets and crank bearings having a little party in my sump :icon_cry: :icon_omg: :icon_cry: :icon_omg: :: :icon_omg:

I have, only this morning at 4am. I get a constant pressure of about 90-100 PSI until the oil warms up.

i get between 30 & 80 then it levels out at 50PSI. it idles at only 2 psi. i don't trust readings 100% but when its getting huge fluctuations it rings the alarm bells. if it drops by 5 or 10 at constant revs it means top up required for mine but this is different. oh ya there is 199,000 miles on the clock too. it better not go bang before the 200,000 mile mark cause i have a party organized for it.

Check the wiring to the gauge and the oil pressure sender unit. If its not that then it could be the oil pump acting up.

oil pump acting up is what im afraid of. time for an emergency oil change just in case i think.

Its a surprise party so say nothing a while. im gona get her washed, polished, 4 new shoes and all she can drink for 2 days on a rosemantic weekend in the cork kerry mountains because she's worth it

Thats savage mileage, is it the original engine? What model is it?

95 RS . it was rebuilt by the last owner at about 140k. The pressure issue didn't happen this morning which would indicate a wiring problem but its fine when it heats up
