Hey. I have been the proud owner of a 2003 Forester XT since April. I traded from a Volvo S80 (2.0T with ECU upgrade+215bhp) but even though the XT is down on power compared to that, it feels much faster, thanks to that glorious boxer, and a manual gearbox!

First trip I brought the XT on was over to Manchester for a wedding, then down to London for a week's work experience with Autocar magazine, then back to Holyhead via Wales. In fact I spent nine hours driving from London through Wales, ended up at a place called Bewts-Y-Coed when it got dark and had another hour-long drive to do the following morning to make the ferry.

The trip was amazing and I knew then I'd instantly made the right decision to trade in the comfortable but staid Volvo for something with better handling.

Anyway, having owned the car for almost four months, I'm already getting itchy about upgrading it. I don't have much funds to play with, about E500-550 max, but I want it to sound better and go faster if possible. I don't want to do much to the looks. I like my Q-cars and the way I can blow Civics away at the traffic lights.

I don't mind travelling to get work done. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Robert,

Nice intro and welcome to the club. Get some pictures of the foz up, we love our pictures here!

Your not going to get much power wise with 500 - 550 quid, but you could install some nice handling mods, suspension, brakes etc to make it feel quicker. I think that is probably your best option with your budget. IMO.

Steve.

Welcome to the club Robert, decat exaust and induction kit shoud get you a few more horses for the funds you have :subaru:

as above full decat exhaust and a good panel filter will make the car feel more responsive and sound great.

Lowering springs and uprated anti roll bars would make a big difference!!!!

then save for the decat exhaust and remap.....
