Right story goes, i'm waiting for a STi Type R to come in from Japan, but yesterday threw a spanner in the works! I've driven a few Evos to date and while they are fast and handle well they just don't have the appeal of the Scoobie. That was until I drove a Lightweight Evo 5 RS yesterday! the thing just blew me away  the difference between it and other Evos is huge. The noise it makes with no soundproofing and the way it felt on the road makes you fell like you're in a pukka rally car!. So now I find myself wanting it, either that or a STi RA lightweight if I can find one to try out!..................................Pleeeeze help! am I just being impatient or is driving the comfy Civic got my senses screwed up! :wall:

Think you might be asking the wrong people here... :D Have you tried asking the Irish Evo Drivers Club Members what they think?

U seen the price of a eve 5? Also means ur scooby is on its why u dont have much of a choice intill u get it. Wait till u drive it then make ur desision.

:lol if i went to that club and asked the question they'd probably send me here!! Have to say the Type R looks and sounds better!

:computer: everything from 1.3 lancers up in there! Don't think i'll want to attend those meets! :subaru:

dont do it timo.ur gonna love that type r when she comes.

your senses are being tickled by the dark side. Dont give in to them...wait for the type R.

DCCD, close ratio box, flat 4 burble....no contest.

the evos are nice cars but ginger snap biscuts are nice...hold on for your scooby.... :subaru:

Hello Timo,

If you are looking for the "rally" experience, try out a spec-C scooby. As with the Evo there is no sound proofing and has a very stiff suspension set up. The spec-C is the car they use for group n homoligation in rallying. Be prepared for no comfort's such a electric windows, air con etc. The car is also a lightweight model up to 120kgs lighter than a standard STI.

This should be an equal to the Evo RS.....

Thanks,

Michael

PS Both Dave Leggy and I have one.... :subaru:

You would soon get sick of the niose and the stiffness of the evo 5, also the evo's seem to give more trouble, the brother has a evo7 RS2 lightweight and although it's a great car I wouldn't give up my STI MY03 for it, he's spent nearly four grand on it this year just keeping it on the road, but then he wouldn't give it up for a subaru of any kind, different focks different strocks. He's a member of www.irishmoc.org.

your mad get the type r i know!! i have a type r sti and i have driven a few evos and they simply dont compare.
