Anyone any experience with the 98/99/00 model 2.0 diesel? Things to look out for, common problems?

Is there a difference between the 2.0 diesel and the 2.0 Diesel 'Ecotek'? Seen one with an ecotek engine so just wondering?

Whats the mpg like? Thats the most important thing to me along with room for the 2+2 family..

Cheers man, read through that alright :thumbsup: ... More looking if people have had experience with these car and know of common problems or general things to look out for... Going for a look at a few this week hopefully as I'm in need of something bigger to transport the family and a diesel to save me money.. sick of having to climb in and out of the back of 2 door yokes, my back is in bits :icon_hang:
 
i have an 03 vectra, i know its the next generation
but one thing i discovered is that the blower resister tends to fail, and will only operate of setting 4, not so bad in summer, goin to be a pain in winter

think its a £20 part to fix,

sorry if this aint even relevant to ur model
 
I had an 01 2.2 dti vectra before i got da impreza. Good car. It was mapped to 170bhp and i used it for driving up to college every day monday t friday which was 75 mile a day. 60 quid a week was all i was spendin on juice.
 
i'm getting bout 45-50 mpg out of her
its a good going car, (not fast but thats not why you buy it..)

60 quid is doing me about 2 weeks

make sure u get the wheel lock nut tool with it, as most have factory fitted lock nuts

All my midweek driving is between 80-120kmph... Do they have tall enough 5th gears?
 
I had a 00 DTI, they have a little more hp than a DT, And have better spec, mine had a/c and a cd changer in glove box and steering controls, very nice car,
all the rear bushes get tired in them, injector pumps can give trouble up in the miles, and also there is 3 little vacum sensor pots, 2 on passenger valance and one on drivers irc, that give trouble, they will through up ecl and car might not pull right, think they are around 40sterling each
I reckon i was getting 40-45 mpg
