ok so ive been on the lookout for something cheap, fun and easy to use as a track tramp. I had originally intended to go vtec but honda drivers are such dreamers that it wasnt possible on my budget lol. So this popped up, and at the right price too - a completely standard 106 gti, half leather interior and all! gave it a quick clean up and here it is:

Apologies for the terrible pics!

so stay tuned to see this very clean little car get defiled and robbed of all her dignity before i stick her in her best dress and out on the track where she belongs, little slut :D

EDIT: Did a lil bit today, gave her a service and a bit of stealthifying :)

EDIT:Fully sleeper'd her and replaced the lower gearbox mount with a Group N item and MY GOD the difference:

Im awaiting delivery now of a Raceland 4-2-1 manifold, drilled and grooved discs, carbon lorraine pads, HEL braided lines and 5.1 fluid along with a timing belt kit and water pump! The plan is to do the lot in one go, and while she's stripped change the head gasket for a metal 0.6mm jobbie, have 0.2mm skimmed off the head to raise compression! hard to believe that this mod alone gives roughly a 10bhp increase on these little beasties!!

EDIT 19/5/10: Braking goodies arrived today - the discs came with mintex pads so ill try em out before i splash on CL ones!

also due to lack of parts and general boredom, i started sprucing up the engine bay bits:

Raceland manifold is on the way, then we'll see about an exhaust :)

Good job D. She's a nice little car, not too many in black either. Will be looking forward to seeing it on track.

nice car man they are a savage motor great track car i had a vts saxo couple of years ago same running gear as the 106 and it was a mental little yoke 148 at the wheels on the dyno with only cams exhaust and fuel pump and induction kit

Nice project Derek.

Are ya gonna fully strip it out for track or just run her the way she is?

Ideal little car for mondello!

Same as dec I drove a 106 with 150bhp a few years ago & they were little rockets, will be great fun around mondello

Wow,
Over 10% lighter!!
As the Founder of Lotus, Colin Chapman said, A powerful car is faster down the straight, A lighter car is faster everywhere!!

Enjoy!

drove a 106 for a few years myself as my first car!!!! Awsome little thing!!!!!
what it lacked in HP it more than made up for in road holding and handleing!!!!

Was looking at a 205gti at the weekend for the same thing!!! want to make a little track rocket myself!!!!

@ scoobymaniac : yeah Phil I'm strippin it as much as I can! I won't have time to make big power mods so I wanna be as light and stiff as I can for now!

nice project should be a great car..

looking to buy a 92-94 sir at the moment for the same job but the price is putting me off... had an sir 8 years ago and sold it for less than what they are looking for them now.. what sort of money would you pay for a good 106...

Cool!
Good mod, such a light car, You wont need much more in the braking department!
