Opinions/Convince me to buy another Scoob!

Sunday Drivers
Hi guys,

Some of you may have seen my 05 sti for sale. Well i managed to eventually basically give it away.
Reason for selling was the long commutes im doing at the moment, so gotta get something diesel.

I want to spend 5-6k on another weekend/track car, and wondering what to get.

I'd like a 2-door sti, evo5/6, or honda S2000.

Convince me as to why i should get another scoob over one of the others? Or if you have any suggestions as to what i might get instead. Lotus Elise maybe for that money??

Man ya should get a drive in all of the above cars....

I dont recon you will need any convincing after driving the silly Vtec thing....
and as for the Evo's :mooner: :subaru:

Have you ever driven an evo 5/6?
I haven't but like the look of them, and they are meant to have a good strong motor, not so sure about diff's and gearbox's though.

Driven Evo 5's a few times... not a bad motor all together but i honestly find them a little tiresome after a while....
only Evo 6 I ever drove was a Tommy Mc..... wasnt impressed with it.... apparently after spending a bit on them they are alot better tho

Over all they just arent for me at all......

Not everyone has same expectations from a car as i have tho

Its hard to beat the burble of the scoobie really!

Having had the 05 sti, which i loved, now that im buying it as a second car i want it to feel even more "connected/pure" than mine did, and quicker if possible!

you wont get a lotus for that money

type r wont be a good track car out of the box and unreliable with out some safety stuff done to the engine

evo will be same as above

rwd honda all the way for me, it has every thing, looks, roof down on sunny days, reliable, quick on track and fun rwd, the only down side is two seater but if its only weekend and track its prefect

Interesting, coming from scooby enthusiast.
Honda could probably be used as a commuter from time to time also....30-35mpg probably on a long (easy) run.
Actually intereted in the 97 type r thats for sale on here. Might have a look at the weekend.

if you dont mind putting a few quid into a type r it will make a great track car but there not good as standard, they understeer, the brakes are crap and they suffer from oil starvation but as i said you sort them issues out and there great.

ya i know the car well, its very clean and has all the bits for the track and is very quick.

thats the type of car that you should look for, i.e. it has everything done already so you dont have to go spending money on it.

its a good price too so defo worth a look

Have to disagree with Hammie the Tmac EVO is one of the most sorted standard cars I've ever driven...great gearbox, loads of grunt, great handling.

I know loads of people that will agree with Dagnut on this aswell...... It just didnt really suit me i think.
Looks well I admit tho

I've read the TME evo isn't all its cracked up to be, ie not worth the 50% more u pay for one over a GSR evo6 or RS evo 6.

Keep em comin!

The coilovers alone on chris's type would run ya 2k..hks hypermax..full presto cage...probably another grand..extra struts..I know hes got new pads and grooved stoptech disks on it as well so your ready to race.

as above and after talkin to you earlier, properly set up for the track... and ya sound like a decent lad that would look after her..
very reluctant sale :icon_cry: :icon_cry: :icon_cry:

I'd look after her alright.

I'd consider myself the mehanical type, and friendly to mechanical stuff.

Race Mx, and with Mx comes broken engines and high maintenance, so rebuilt manys an engine, and changed turbo's and swapped an engine on a caddy i had. So would consider i know as much as the next guy.
I'll give you a shout fri or sat chris, would like a look at the car alright, sounds like the job. However i do want something i can use on the road also.
Forgive the ignorance, are they 5 or 6 speed?
Any one know if you'd get the type r through the NCT without a cat? Maybe with the help of some E85?
What sort of rpm are they at in topgear at 100 or 120km/h anyone know?

and can defo be used on the road jus I messed around with the suspension rebound and it could be better... Ciaran said he knows the proper settings,

5 speed... mine sits at 4500 rpm at 120kmh .. other Type Rs are at 4000 as far as I remember..

Wow, thats low gearing!
It must be some weapon to accelerate.
Anyway, work early in the am, signing out. Thanks for the info, talk to you at the weekend prob.

If anyone knows about the NCT id love to know, cheers.
