Opinions on this Legacy lads please

ah andy another man gettin rid of the type r. we are all leaving. i know what you mean though when ya say ya grow outta them. i found i preferred driving only a few days a week not every day as they completly different to driving most other subarus. its like driving a rally car around. hopefully you get a good trade here or a sale. best of luck bud

well andy just be careful when it comes to the warranty a mate of mine bought a 01 b4 off them and it blew two pistons they said they wouldnt stand by it because he was after giving it a serioisly hard drive but in saying that it looks like a real nice motor

Was the car still under warranty at the time? Garages have to give you a 3 month warranty with any car they sell...

remember talkin to the mechanic who did the engine change on an 01 from northside in swords in october i think it was, melted pistons,he said the guy had a week if that.

Put a deposit on this Legacy today lads. So my type R has to go ASAP.

I have to say Im well experienced dealing with Jap Import Garages and this one is the best I have dealt with so far. Deposit is fully refundable if I change my mind and car is fully warranted for 3 months. I even have proof of mileage from auction.

Andy if I had rid of my sti I'd be straight up to buy your type r.. best of luck with the new motor

ye sweetcakes the car was still under warranty they would not stand by it as the7 said he had drove the heart out of it i thought a garage had to stand by it if it was under warranty and gary ye your probably right my mate only had it a few hours.andy best of luck with it anyway hope it goes well for you

When was this? Get onto trading standards straight away... The engine blew under dealer warranty... How do they know he drove the stones out of it? Did they follow him? I doubt it... If he only had the car a couple of hours then the damage would already have been done by previous owner... Unless he was revving to 8000 for 2 hours i cant see him doing that much damage...

if it was sent out of the garage with shitty oil, cr@p sparks and on 95 it wouldn't take long for the dett to melt a piston....its not something that has to build up if enough fuel is unburnt it could create the heat needed...the cars are shitting up for a long time in japan and then on their travels also.
If you wanted to prove you didnt drive it hard you could use the datalog from the ECU it would show how much timming was trimmed knock was detected etc.

Ye learn something new every day, I didnt think you could blow it in a couple of hours... Still should be covered under warranty though shouldnt it?

Your warranty relates to use under normal conditions..its kind of open to interpertation..I know lads who've come from Type r civics or mivec lancers and blown up a subaru in their first day.
Any performance car will be them same...the e46 M3 limits the revs until it at the correct temperature and oil pressure beofre ingaging the VANOS unit(highlift cams) the same with the VZR I owned.and VTECS...but my B4 went into safe mode when it detected to much knock when i first got..I Thought the car was fucked until I reset the ecu so I don't know why this particular one didn't...hard to tell without knowing the facts but I don't think its unreasonable to assume you could blow a 280hp 2litre engine without proper care in a few hours of careless driving
