Howdy folks,

I'm playing around with the idea of buying a UK Turbo with a plan to do a stage one straight away (decat downpipe, fuel pump, plugs and filter followed by a remap). This should hopefully see me to 260 - 280 horsies or so i'm led to believe.

Thing is though, i've never driven a UK turbo and i'm afraid i'll be disappointed with how it performs in comparison to my old V3 STI.

Obviously the STI is more hard edged but just wanted to get a few opinions on what y'all thought - differences between the 2 etc??

Personally... STi was too hardcore for me to live with day to day with commuting costing me a small fortune!

Depends on the mileage you're doing if using it as an everyday car....?

Had a UK car too.. very soft in comparison... doesn't rev anywhere near an STi and feels a little dead... but much easier car to live with day to day if you are in it a lot and doing big-ish mileage! And a few stage 1 mods may make it a little livelier! :thumbsup:

Basically comes down to what you intend to use it for and if you have the budget to run STi if you commute a lot. :ponder2:
 
Its really a personal choice. Ya can't really compare the two. If its power ya want then go Sti but you'll pay dearer with insurance everyday running costs. Not that hard to get the power up on a Uk wrx though!!!
 
Yea, I don't think i'm gonna compromise on this one... Type R all the way :subaru:

I do use the car as a daily driver but fook it... if you're gonna do it, do it right I say!

4dr v5 and v6 sti are a lovely car, gearing isnt as short as type r, and not as long as UK, and you have a useable family car.
the fact that you are straight away talking about spending money on the UK car to tune it to STI power, is to me answering your own question on what you should go for
As stated above, the price of some Sti cars is just give away, i know i may have referd to it before, but I think that car of Brians is still available, sti v5 or 6, tuned and mapped and Cheap as an SIR civic
