over boostin

hi a mate of mine asked me 2 post this as his not joined the forum yet he has a version 4 type r scooby and noticed it is chuckin mad and over boostin going past 1.5 bar any help would be greatful he said wondering is it summit like the actuator or boost solenoid :dontknow: any1 have simular problem like this before on their scooby any help cheers :thumbsup:
 
First thing to find out is, has he been at the car at all, changed anything? that has caused this?
 
no he changed nothin on it kenc the boost solenoid that the 1 on the right hand shock valance
 
Yes its on the shock tower bracket, could start by cleaning the pipework and the solenoid etc etc, simple things first, could get it on a diagnostics, other than that it will be trial and error
 
Hi,

What is it normally boosting? I am sure everyone is aware that with the cooler weather turbo cars will boost slightly more that during the summer - If he was boosting 1.4/1.45 bar before, even without adjusting the boost sol. settings it will over boost dur to the cooler air, I would say it is over boosting, than trying to compensate by injecting more fuel and maxing out the injectors which will cause the chucking. But if it starts that you must turn down boost immediatly otherwise bang goes the engine

Maybe I am wrong but thats what it sounds like as normally around this time people start asking questions like this. otherwise a hose has split somewhere.

not sure only way can up the boost is the actuator standard ecu and all in it no boost controller or that in it
 
its for a mate of mine dave ill get him 2 drop it over to ya much do u charge on labour per hour
