Over €1.50

Time someone copped the fk on and took 1/3 of the tax off fuel

That would make considerable savings

your right hammie

if the new government dont do something the hole country will just come to a stand still and if they dont ill be selling the scooby very soon for a 1.6 diesel.

935 euro tax for a 2.5l car and now 1.50 pl for fuel which half of it is tax and im still dogding potholes and paying tolls every day

spain have rejuiced there speed limited from 120kph to 110kph to try save on fuel already

bring back the days when you could buy a can of coke , a mars bar and a packet of king for a pound !!!

roughly what % does the government get out of every euro from fuel purchase ??

I thought at least 75% of fuel cost was tax?

A lot of freight transport companies are going to be hit hard by these increasing fuel prices. Most goods are transport around this country by road.

How long ago was it that petrol was at €1 a litre? It doesn't seem like that long....I remember it stuck at 99c a litre everywhere for ages, it was like nobody wanted to break the euro mark. Since it did though it's just rocketed :icon_sad:

When I was looking up the Abbeyleix hotel on Google (just before the AGM), the Topaz station beside it was selling petrol at 118.9 when the photo was taken. That's only about 2 years ago I'd imagine since that was taken. That's some hike in the meantime.......

i think they take 80c a litre...some petrol stations dont help after the budget petrol went up 4 c
but most stations put it up 8-9 c
a boycott of a brand of petrol would be good then they would have to drop their costs
but it would never happen :angry1:

Of the €1.50 per litre today, the government takes 57%, equating to about 85c per litre. Duty is a flat rate on fuel but VAT, etc are based on percentages so depend.

I bought petrol in mid 2008 for 93.9c per litre.

If not for the fuel tax increases by the outgoing government over the last 2 years, then petrol would stand at 131c or 132c per litre today

paid 1.52 per litre this smorning
fook the gauge on the pump was spinning real fast
for every 20 euro of petrol or diesel you put in your car the government take between 11 and 12 euro
cant see them lowering the tax rate as they need the revenue
there is a meeting tonight with some hauliers , taxi drivers etc about organising a protest
as there lively hood is at risk with this
i think the increase the greens put on fuel should be removed straight away
gone are the days of big engined cars
its a foookin shame
and also now that it has gone over the 1.50 mark you can be sure that when it goes back down it wont be long until it goes over it again permanently
also the price has gone up but the fuel we are using is already in the country and probably even in the petrol station tanks
:angry1:
