p1 vs 22b

Stage one tuned the 03 sti would match the FQ on the straights and kick it's ass everywhere else!

Arent those Alcons usually fooked off them because of the price of the pads? Maybe i am mistaking but werent they 500 quid or something stupid??
And just wondering how the suspension was better than the v5/v6 on STI inverted struts?
[/quote]
Well I suppose if you can afford a P1 in the first place you wouldn't be too concerned with the price of brake pads. Pagid, Ferodo and Mintex make pads for Alcons anyway so they are totally affordable.

Prodrive had access to every available suspension part in the STI catalogue and tried every conceivable combination of springs, struts, bushings and damper rates until they came up with the optimal combination for UK roads. I have never been in any car with better handling which rides so well. Because custom made parts like the rear spoiler and front splitter were made in such small volumes economies of scale could not be reached making these one off parts very expensive. The rear spoiler cost in the region of 2k alone! No other Subaru got such unanimous praise from the motoring press and the fact that it has held its value better than everything outside the 22B is tetstment to its enduring desirability. this thread is a good read, ive have been lucky enough to buy a P1 and still own it.
have 10k put aside for anything the car needs or wants,i choose the P1 cause how desiarable
these cars are,and how it looks(had a desire the 1st time i say one 10years ago)plus its the only impreza
ever to wear the prodrive badge.if anyone was lucky to be at the gathering in banbury in may you
would see how these cars still turns people heads,10years after there release
ive seen a P1 and a 22B parhed side by side and, have said how good would a P1 look with those
wide archs/22B with a P1 front.

basicaly it comes down to witch model you want in the end,and what you can afford

il be putting up a few on saturday, needs polish 1st.

but if you search you should find some pics ive put up

@ P1impreza,
Just wanted to say fairplay to you, please don't confuse my comments as criticism of your car,
No doubt the P1 is one of the most desirable scoobies of all time, And the youngest example of a 2 dr coupe (i think)
As above all the one off peices and prodrive badges push the price up alot, but keep the values high
As I have pointed out, there are cheaper alternatives, but some lads (like yourself) want the genuine artical!

the p1 is the ultimate car would choose one anytime i spent 26k on a 03 wrx 3 years ago 6 months later i went out one night came back went to bed up the following morning car gone all the bas***ds left me was shatterd glass in my home.i cried for weeks.guards do not a thing only tooka picture i took the same weekend when i had her polished.if i had that money again in the morning the p1 is my choice.but now im happy with my ra.i know i went off topic but dont think i mentioned it before on the site

for me, i always like the p1 but it was a compromise from subaru that i never liked

it would have made a amazing car had it been based on a v6 v limited with roof hatch, dccd, sti type r clocks, 2 pot rears and alcons as standard.

but it wasnt and i cant understand how anyone would pay the money they fetch for them.

they are not that rare either as the the v6 vlimited was only made a thousand times too.

i think they made a big deal about them in england years ago because they couldnt get a type r there that handy but in ireland jap cars were coming in in the early ninethies

the P1 was made to combat the grey imports that were coming into england at the time, plus the fact
their genuine english 2door subaru imprezas with 3year warrenty helped hold their value(apart from the rare 16 uk 22B.)
when i purchased my P1 i paid over 13k steerling for a standard example with 2folders of receipts.
some people think i made for purchasing the P1,but it the car ive wanted for 10years and i intend to
keep it for the next 10years.im not going to give out to people for not liking the P1,every1 is entitled to
their opinion on what subaru they prefer

I've alway's liked P1's... and it was the first 2 door I ever saw in the flesh and I remember having to practically lift my jaw off the ground... but when I decided to buy a 2 door I just couldn't bring myself to buy one due to costs and lower spec to Type R. :ponder2:

Yeah... they are Prodrive badged and limited numbers... but as collectable and expensive as that makes them... it doesn't make them a better car to a V6 Type R as too many compromises where made for the UK market.

They are going to be possibly the best Scoob (along with 22B) to have sat up i a few years with regards to classic car status and collectability... but I'd still rather a Type R any day of the week! And if I did have a moment of madness and decide to spend a large wedge of cash on another classic 2 door... without a doubt it would have to be a 22B!

In saying all that... I'd still be a very happy man... and proud man if I had a Prodrive P1 parked in the garage! If I one the Lotto tomorrow there would definatly be one parked up along with 22B, Series 1 Leggy RS-RA, V2 Sti V-Limited 555, and a Hawkeye Spec C...

Good man!

In fairness they arent holding there money that well either, wasnt there one for sale on donedeal not so long ago for 10k euro or something on Irish reg? so i not sure how collectable they are really, I love the front splitter, i am 50/50 on the front fog lamps compared to sti covers, i am not that keen on rear wing, i am not that keen on v6 sti rear wings either, my favourite is the v5 sti rear wing, i find that the quarters look a bit bare on p1 withouth the Wrx Stickers, and the anthracite wheels dont do it for me at all. All i coulds say that i would want off the car is the splitter...
There a nice car, but over priced because they have a prodrive badge, which to me means nothing, i cant beleive they didnt even put the clear rear lights on them???
If i had p1 money, id buy a spec c i think

Enough to tempt you back?

I really like the P1, i think they are gorgeous looking cars... certainly the best looking standard classic impreza out of the factory, well apart from the 22B that is...

I had a v5 type r and always wanted a 22b so eventually i got the 22b and even though the v5 was probably close on as quick its all the little things in the 22b that just leave it in a different place altogether even just the view from the side mirror out over the rear arche though only 40mm odd wider each side its a whole lot in the mirror.I would some it up in a P1 and V5r I would always love to have but now a 22b is something I hope I will never have to do without

They both get the power down so differently :icon_biggrin:

Welcome along

this question has been asked before about the difference between the type r and 22b.

with you two lads having had both(pete and john) any chance you could do a write up as a comparison?
