PAYMENT FOR CLUB EVENTS

Can i suggest that the committee assign a couple of members for the collection of monies for club events,(I myself would do the greater Dublin area)Iknow we have PAY-PAL,but this can still be a problem for some people, the committee could just inform assigned members of monies owed in their area,it could be collected and either lodged or handed over to a committee member,it just seems unfair on members that go to the trouble of paying and then to be told the event has to be cancelled,i recall somthing similar happening last year, this is only a suggestion, anyone any other suggestions or ideas

I have to agree,i'm not signed up for PayPal and not pushed to do so.Good idea, except that it would involve alot of driving/collecting.It would help increase numbers and get rid of the lazy factor when it comes to payment via computer and a great way of meeting other members(a mini meet to pay up)

I would defo have to agree

i would be a full member from day 1 if i could just give some the 50 euro

im not a full member now and i probley wont be in six but if there was someone i could give the money to tomoro i would...

Im all over Dublin and can meet people no bother or they can come out to me. Another easier option would be to just get a 50 euro postal order or bank draft and post it down. If we have to many people spread out collecting money things can get messy. Cheque , paypal , draft , postal order , pay at a meet or event , or arrange to meet up with your nearest committee member. If there are a number of people waiting to join Ill meet everyone somewhere and collect it all. Im meeting someone tonight to get membership so its not a problem.

How about set up a club bank account and you could just lodge money into that....!!!

Keep it with a big bank like AIB or BOI which are in most towns. Makes lodging easier if it's through the same bank.

We have an account but as far as I know the persons name who makes the lodgement isent recorded so harder to keep track of who has paid. Ill ask Nodge but I think there are morte then enough ways to pay. Plus going to the bank and and going to the post office to get a draft is the same thing. Although It might take an extra 5 seconds to put it in the envelope and lick the stamp  :D

There has to be a committee member not to far away or just pay at the next event your at.

Paul are you based in Dublin ? Im on the Belgard road today then Rathfarnham then Malhide / Coolock then Blach then Naas.

I think the committee members have the payment methods spot on. Having a third party collecting money can be messy. The only thing about paypal is I tried to use me oul lads credit card to pay last week and it wouldnt let me use his card because its already registered to a different paypal account. I'll send a postal order in the post today. Dont even have to lick the stamps anymore!!!

an couldnt bring myself to get out of the bed and drive for over an hour to see you bla bla bla ;)

Lads,

As far as I'm concerned the payment methods are fine :ponder:
If you want to pay in person then just turn up to one of the events or even turn up to the meeting point of one of the events and pay then :dunno:

Alan.

Unfortunately we have to cancel events if people don't pay up front - the Club has been hit with big bills in the past when we paid for events and then people cancel... so now we ask people to pay in advance and if we don't get the numbers we cancel - it's the only way we can do it...

A said previously, if someone wants to pay in person then just PM any of the Committee and we'll organise something
We should be holding the AGM in Jan next year so everybody can pay their fee's then ;)

Alan.

I've been on holidays so a late response to this one. Just a few comments and clarifications:

This thread might be well intentioned but I have to say a lot of what I've read is nonsensical rubbish IMO.
We have a wonderful system called the postal service, it's a few thousand years old now - if you send a postal order, bank draft, personal cheque (or even cash if you're feeling lucky) through this service, it will arrive at my door.
Paypal was introduced (after considerable behind the scenes work) to make things easier for members. If you do not wish to use it, use the post........simple! In my experience, if people want to pay, they'll pay :noway:
Since I took over as Treasurer I have handled €8,000 cash and received over €5,000 through paypal for club membership, events and merchandise so obviously a lot of people have no problem using An Post and Paypal. I really fail to see the difficulties????

If the reference to events being cancelled is connected to the recent attempt to organise a trackday, NOBODY had paid us for that event, THAT IS WHY IT WAS CANCELLED! This was despite the fact that I sent 300 text message in the last 6 weeks, posted several reminders on the thread and sent 12 PM's to those whose names were down to take part (I received 2 replies).
It is absolutely disingenuous to suggest that the committee have been in any way unfair to any member regarding this event, and to say that someone went to the trouble of paying and was then told the event was cancelled is a lie.
