Hi guys,
My son's getting married  in the Mullingar area on Saturday and we're travelling over by car taking the ferry from the dark-side into Dublin then heading due west to Roscommon where we're staying for the week. Run my classic on shell v-power but from what I gather there's nothing similar out there? Have been pointed in the direction of maxol E5 but seems that might still only be 96ron? Any advise before we leave home tomorrow morning would be useful, save for the obvious of stocking up with booster.
We'll be in an x-reg mica blue classic, with Kent Scoobies / Baser999 in white graphics on the rear side windows and 'if in doubt, flat out' across the boot-lid, so if you see us give a wave

Maxol should be 99 afaik , but no harm in running with booster 2 , nearly everyone here runs on maxol so should be safe enough ,

Enjoy the Wedding , few lads from here over Roscommon direction

Maxol E5 has been compared to Tesco 99 in the UK by Bob Rawle, Andy Forrest and JGM, not sure exactly how that then compares to shell v-power but I don't imagine you'll have any problems. Do you have a knocklink to be sure?

Congrats on the Wedding, hope its a great day

Maxol in Roscommon doesnt have E5 and the closest Maxol station with it is in Longford. Closest Apple Green station is is Athlone!

I got on to Maxol about this and was told it is E5 even though its not marked on the pumps so hard to know what to make of it

there is a maxol on the m4 in maynooth if needed about 40 mins after you get off the ferry, up the slip rd for maynooth (well sign posted) cross back over the motorway pass the esso and its on your right the just shoot back up to the motorway and continue on your journey  :subaru:

Bob Rawle :icon_pray: mapped my car a few years ago so if E5's ok by him I'm sure as hell it's going to be good enough for me
Thanks everyone else for your advice

As Nic says through in some NF just to be safe but it should be OK.
There is a maxol Garage in the centre of mullingar.
Its on the Dublin Bridge in the town your sat nav should find it, Millie Welshes opposite Mullingar Autos ( VW garage)

Dont think they know themselves!!

Just to let you know...

I've had bad doses of E5 from the Maxol in Longford three times now.
I used to fill there everyweek, often twice a week and have had the car go into limp mode 3 times.

Maynooth has always been good, but then I wouldnt have used it near as often.

Well guys, back from the jolly old republic. Didn't spend too much time hunting around for fuel, only did a couple of tankloads so whacked in the booster and had no trouble at all. Thanks any way for your advise - I did in fact ask one garage about the E5 and cashier didn't know about the octane level. Spoke to a guy in an Evo on the way to Limerick and he said we'd be hard pushed to find any sort of super unleaded anywhere, presumeably he's had his car remapped for ordinary unleaded or he spends a fortune on booster.
One final question. . :dontknow: . . how the hell do you guys cope with the roads, so many huge potholes even on the 'main' roads, you must spend half your time getting your suspension reset?

glad you didnt run into any problems and she ran well as for our roads we rae probably resigned to the fact that the council wont bother doing anything to fix it
