Bearded dragons are about the best lizard you can have afetr water dragons, used to manage a big petstore and have had most every pet you can this off bar birds can't stand birds es[ecially parrots

Ive had 3 bearded dragons, 2 scorpians, moniter lizard and 2 trantulas.

The beardys where great, i used to let them run around the living room. They used to go nuts for locust. The Female used to sit on my head for heat lol.

Ended up giving the moniter away when he was getting big, i didnt have the time for him and would be a tad unfriendly.

The male i had was the length of my elbow to finger tip. The first Female beardy i had died from conpaction of the eggs. Was gutted over that. They are so placid, just clean up there sh1t asap cause it stinks.

Trevor u wana watch the wood shavings also, some time the beardy will eat them by mistake with there food and wont be able to pass them.

What u feeding it?

I used to feed mine Dusted crickets which have been feed cabbage, big and small locust, wax worms has a treat, and veg.

U should avoid meal worm has they dont digest well.

Also trevor u should let them in the bath every now and again, they love the water. Just a few inchs of like warm water and watch the sh*t flow.

ya i have a leopard gecko the last 6 years just like andys only abit fatter

I love those bearded dragons. Going to get one in the summer. What sort of temperament have they?? There are a couple of small children in my house most days, would they be able to hold them etc?

jaysus lads just when i thought i heard it all there turns out to be lizard experts on a scooby website

I feed my Gecko live crickets which have in turn been fed vegetables and some fruit so they are "bulked" up before feeding to the Gecko. I also had to switch to a newspaper bedding because she was, as Lee mentioned, accidently eating small wood chippings. I tried a sand base bedding but that was worse and required several vet trips.

I've had mine since she was 2 inches long. She doesn't mind being handled at all by anybody.

The Beardys love to be handled,

Andy do you use a Calcuim dust on your crickets? Theres a special sand u can get thats digestable but i never bothered with it has its really expensive.

The Bosic (moniter Lizard) used to get whole mice and baby rats for its dinner, only thing was because i didnt handle him has much as i should of every time i picked him up his arse would explode and he would sh*t all over you.

Yes sometimes. She seems happy with the newspaper. Didnt know you could buy the type of sand for them.

Do u know Reptile Haven down on Fishamble Street in town, its next to Christ Church, its probably the best reptile shop in dublin. They have it in there.

Dont know that place. I get my crickets and things from Orchard Garden Center in Celbridge.

be careful letting kifds handle geckos as they can shed their tails if they are held wrong or grabbed by the tail..seen it happen

yes, they drop their tail as an escape mechanism, clever stuff. Ugly replacement tails grow back.

I had 2 brown geckos years and years ago, and my baby brother tried to pick one of them up and it dropped its tail, the meal worm in the tank made show work of it though.

Probably the most laid back lizard you could buy Mark, and great fun to watch. They get up to all sorts of mad stuff, mine started waving to itself in the mirror yesterday!! the kit can be a bit expensive starting out, but id reccomend them to anyone!
