had aluminium go wrong on me on a track car 2 years ago, cost me 200+ to repair. and they were 150sterling worth D1 spec nuts. not worth the risk, never again.

steel forever

Steel would be my first choice.. Aluminium threaded onto steel wont last.. i work with it every day i know :)

In fairness, you might not have an issue on a road car, it was drifters, Track cars etc etc that were on and off with wheels constant that had the bigger issues.
Afaik they are banned in a lot of motorsports now.
Some nice tidy steel internal drive Nuts are the way to go, have a shite before you drive and thats the weight difference sorted

agreed on the road you may never face a problem but not worth the risk imo...

also my first choice are internal drive steel nuts too some of them can double up as locking nuts too
