An FSE Power Boost Valve replaces your standard fuel pressure regulator and its purpose is to increase the fuel pressure when you put your foot down, which causes extra fuel to be injected and better acceleration.
It does have to be set up to suit your car though once you have fitted it, and unfortunately, the set up process is a case of trial and error. Basically, there is an adjustment screw on top of the valve and you turn it a tiny bit at a time to slowly increase its operation, driving the car each time, until you find the optimum setting for your car.
It only works when you put your foot on the gas though, so it doesn't affect the emissions at idle, so it can be left in place for the MOT.
