is it when you turn the steering wheel left or right? in any position? or just the peripheral positions (when you can often hear a sound of pump and it's nothing really wrong, but it's rather not too loud)

have you checked the steering fluid level anyway? check if there's no metal debris in it... if there is, it's a really bad sign...
pump may be dead...
just quick ideas for now...

its just when i turn right l had a look at the levels and there all fine :ponder2: i lifted the bonnet and turned the wheel all the way on both sides and its only on the right it seems to be coming from the alternator bearing or belt but it defo sounds like a spring or something i havet a clue where to start i just dont wanna be driving it if its gonna feck up the engine :wall:

Hmm... I think you'd better go to the garage for a check... maybe it's something in suspension?
No idea at the mo

Check that the coil's of the springs are not catching in the platform of the strut. There's supposed to be a rubber between the spring and the platform.

check out the top of the shocks if your getting a pinging noise its very likely thats were your problem is
