Problematic Impreza

My 1.6 Impreza is giving me awful hassle, at first it was overheating after going above 60mph or after 15-25 mins of driving. A mechanic ran some test an said its not the head gasket he done something that worked for a day then I got an engine management light and she overheated again. So I parked it up to cool down and filled it with coolant tried to start it and she won't start now and I've now also found a little bit of oil in with my plugs. I love this car and want it to work I can't afford to buy a new one does anyone have any kind of advice that might see her back on the road

Sorry to hear your having hassle . You say to topped it up with coolant can you see where it's leaking from :dontknow: it could be the water pump but it's just a guess without seeing or knowing more . How many miles on it and When was the last time it got a timing belt or service. . How high wat the temp gauge. And how much water did you put in it

If it has overheated that amount of times it may well be head gasket issues.

I would not exclude that because you were told it by someone

It had water pump and timing belt at 155k, it's 177k now, I didn't put much water in I just filled it with mainly coolant. I know it might still be the head gasket but she don't overheat while ticking over and Drs no white smoke from the exhaust so I'm holding out hope for it yet.

Also the mechanic checked the water pump and said its fine and I put a new thermostat in.
