Question on Power Steering

If standing still in the car and lock the steering wheel in either direction, then let go, it kicks back a few inches. A question was raised with me today to see if this was normal which i believe it is. I've 2 other cars sitting outside the house and they both do the exact same thing. The reason he said he wasn't sure was because he had an MR2 and when he did locked it, the steering wheel would just sit in position.

Now I think it is perfectly normal as when you turn against the ground, you build friction, and then if you let go, it is naturally going to spring back slightly. The car has been the same since I bought it nearly 4 years ago, drives perfect, doesn't kick while driving, there's no fighting it or anything like that. Just wanted to see if other people's cars are the same?

Your right robbie, but not friction, because if your car is on a lift and you do it, it springs back also, often done it in the reno garage i used to work in. I'd say its just the pressure exerted at the last turn on the steering, it'l kick back to release the pressure. (Could be wrong it just feels like a pressure release to me)
