Quick advice needed

Guys going tomorrow to look at 1998 uk turbo. My friend bought it a few weeks ago and his misses doesn't like it so I said I would take a look at it. I really wanted to get a type r but I'm confused now. Cars going really cheap and theres tax and test on it with a full service history. I know this is a dumb question but is there really much of a difference power wise between these two cars? Just don't want to buy it then in a few months regretting it. Thanx again
 
2 cars are like chalk and cheese , 218 bhp vrs 280 ish , dccd , shorter gearing for the type r , list goes on
 
Owned both and there is no comparison... The type r revs, handles, accelerates so much better than a standard UK car and if you plan on modding a type r is a better basis. To this day my type r is possibly the greatest car I've ever driven. They are hard to find... Especially clean ones so I'd hold out and find the right one. You'll never be happy with a UK car for long and will just throw money at it to make it close to a type r... And they don't look half as cool.
