Hammie

Octane Boostaholics
Fecked off today

Finally got round to fittin the 4 pots i got off another member here (great upgrade from the 2 pots i have to say)
only finished fitting them and went for a short easy run to check the breaks see if they needed any more bleeding.....

got out to the end of the estate and heard a hissing noise..... temp guage sittin a little high but nothin worryin...
Drove back in (no boosting as kids playin everywhere....) stopped outside the gaff and the temp guage is sittin about 3/4 way up...
jumped out and there was steam pissin out of the rad........
Looks like im either in need of a few new pipes or a new rad....

anyone got anything lyin around? Im broke till the wife goes back to work in 6 weeks....

Scooby Salvage, Froggy will probably be able to look after you Hammie!
Dan

well brother how you now id say its the top rad pipe i have one here you can have it fred give me a buzz tomorrow
fred an ill meet you

was in that bad a humour with it last night I aint even gone back near it to investigate!!!
Its only leaking under pressure so its likely the top pipe alright!!!!

Ill give ye a buzz later Tom, Thanks for the offer Blitzer

I just need sumit to get me out of the hole till the missus is back gettin paid again lol

Worst case scenario, Its a new rad needed........
Shouldnt be too much hassel to get back on the road, Might as well service it at the same time tho.
at least then Ill know oil and coolant were changed at the same time!

Might as well try stretch to an alloy rad too if budget allows.

If its a temp fix your after then:

A: If its a hose, Get self emalgamating tape and re-inforcing tape and that'll fix it.
B: If its the rad, Get Nova Stop (Its the best rad weld out there)

Cheers Phil

Not goin to bodge it cause in my experience they just lead to more heart ache down the line!!!!
I must go have a look at it tonight and then I'll give ye a ring tom!!!!

As Phil said, Nova Stop is serious stuff. It fixed my heater matrix, which was leaking pretty bad. 3 months now and still perfect  And I don't drive her easy

Ye, i got this rad weld stuff, can't remember what it was called, but it looked like a load of aluminium filings!
It comes in a clear tube about 25mm diameter and 80-100mm long. Only cost about 5 quid!

Used it in the 4-stroke MX'er which runs pretty hot, and 1.4 bar cap i think.
Did the job no bother.

Rite

went out to the car yesterday....

Definitely not the top hose.... going to remove the rad and see if i can find where the problem is!
have a feeling that the thermostat is gone for starters!
not sure but i think the rad maybe split somewhere too......
